Different class for each year has its pro and con.

My child in p3 to p5 has always been in the same type of class.

Unforutnately, this year, those its the best class this year, peers that he mixed with are very unfocus kind, so ended up not too good a thing. On the contrary, another child from second best class, ended up more focus and did better this term.

It is really stressful for parents and kids who have to change class next year. The top and bottom ends will be affected. But the majority will still stays in the current class for next year.

Yes. It's quite sad for the affected pupils to change class especially in end of P5 and they need to adapt to new class next year with PSLE also in place.

          Hi Leanne

My dd during P1 - P4 were in the average class and she managed to move to the first class during the P5. Her form teacher is very good and uses to encourage them and share with the class a lot of life experience as well as the important events in Singapore like 369 cases etc

I hope her form teacher will be following them to P6 and hopefully dd will stay at the same class too.

          Best Regards

            Funx3:
Does Your Child's School Practice Subject Banding? i.e. Kids are Grouped according to each of their Subject Strengths and taught together.

Eg. Kids strong in CL are Grouped to CL1, CL2, etc
but Same Kid in say CL1, may be Grouped to Maths MA3 ....
So they still learnt together even if they R posted to different classes.

My Gal is in 2nd Class in school, but with subjects banding, she still meet and attend classes with her 5 Best friends who R spread from 1st to 4th Class ....
They Still celebrate each others B-Day, Go for Outings, and visit each Others Home Frequently ....

            Hi Funx3

DD school screening the pupils based on EMS results and they only need to change class based on the MT that they are being allocated to.

So the Kids in the Same Class R together for ALL subjects during school hours
                  - No Interactions with other students from other Classes at ALL?
No wonder your DS's classmate is upset even when they R promoted ....

For my DS, teacher has informed them that there will not be movements in the top 2 classes fr P5 to P6 (they go by top 80, mixed between the 2 classes). However, she indicated that some kids in the class did not make the mark of remaining in top 80, and would need to work harder. I’m waiting for his report card next week to see his results. The school does not even indicate positioning in report card.

So depressing to hear how everyone's kids here are doing so well. 😢 I think I should stop reading this thread.

                        Not Even the Top 3?
Do they Have Year-End Prize Giving?
