hi fion, think will be all new furniture at SP2 cos was told almost all furnitures at kent vale belongs to NUS.

But LSH also said that they would be using new furniture once they take over Kent Vale.

Is LV refering to those fixed furniture and LSH is refering to those movable furniture? Like those built in cabinets inside all the classroom, those sure will be reused by LSH. For tables/chairs, I believe belong to LV.

Btw, my hubby was observing the layout, and he asked one of the senior teacher where is the dining area. It is currently not in the layout. The senior teacher told us that the layout is not firmed, the children might be eating in their own classroom. Eating/Learning/Sleeping all at the same place??!! :!:

That's what my son's first childcare centre did.

In fact, it's better this way, in my opinion. After meals, the cleaners would clean the rooms. I think it is more hygienic this way.

The room will full of food smells and some rice will drop to \"invisible\" corner that did not wipe away so? 😛

Not confirm yet. Anyway, not big issue. Can always feedback to them they will make a dining area since I don't think next year there will be 160 kids.

Food smell - it's not as if the classroom door will be closed. If the centre is not fully air-conditioned, the food smell won't stay long.

If you recall, there was a period of time when LV@NUS implemented isolation, that is, all children to eat in their respective classrooms. It's the same case. In fact, if you have your meals in the same room as where you attend lessons and sleep, the school is supposed to be more attentive towards hygiene. Isn't it even better? They will ensure all these issues won't surface. It will be a more conducive environment.

If you have a common dining area, but do not restrict the children from eating snacks in the classrooms, I think this is worse, right?

Yes, in fact most CC in Sg practice eating in classroom. Think we are too spoilt at Kent Vale.

When we first visited LV@NUS 3-4 years ago, we were quite :!: at the set-up, because we had not come across any childcare centre with a dining area previously.

The good point we saw about this dining area concept was to prepare the child for this type of environment before entering P1.
