Learning Vision
-
Hi Fion!
Actually, I am quite surprised that the published rate for LSH is higher than Learning Vision.
LSH charges $950 per month before subsidy, while Learning Vision will be charging $850 per month before subsidy. -
Hi qms, me too is one of the parents of the exising kids at LV@NUS. Hard decision whether to follow them to SP2.
Pro:
1. Teachers are familiar and overall good.
2. Curriculum are satisfied.
Cons:
1. Fee is slightly more exp, $40+gst diff. Not sure if LSH will revise the fee yearly? Need to check out next week.
2. Parking only 15 min grace period. My kids normally take their own sweet time.
3. Centralized office aircon, meaning could be too cold during rainy days especially.
Pro LSH:
1. Fee lower.
2. Published rate is higher than LV@SP2, more worth it?
Cons:
1. Curriculum unknown good. But I saw those extra classes not cheap, $250 to $290 for 10 sessions.
2. There is stupid $100 registration fee
3. Uniform needs to buy new. $21 per set.
4. Teachers and principal dunno good or not. -
Btw, after I found out Little Skool House is NTUC subsidiary, I sienz half.
-
Hi Qms,
For learning vision isit different centre charge differently?
I know that LSH charge higher than LV by about $100.
Hi 12Xuan,
how come u sian half when u find out LSH is under NTUC?? ISit no good? -
Hi lzxuan!
Which class is your child in?lzxuan:
I suppose you were actually referring to Learning Vision, rather than Little Skool House, right? Did you attend the briefing yesterday. It was mentioned that the fee revision would be less than $50 the following year. I am pretty sure there will be revision of the fees upward. Just a matter of how much.Cons:
1. Fee is slightly more exp, $40+gst diff. Not sure if LSH will revise the fee yearly? Need to check out next week.lzxuan:
Agreed. We don't know what optional programs they are offering either. Maybe they will announce next week? Even so, it will be subject to demand.Cons:
1. Curriculum unknown good. But I saw those extra classes not cheap, $250 to $290 for 10 sessions.lzxuan:
Agreed. Are you a staff of NUS? Maybe this is something which we can raise during the briefing session. Why should parents be penalised for something that we have no control over? NUS didn't consult us, the key stakeholders, before they awarded the contract to LSH. It's not fair for us to bear this cost.Cons:
2. There is stupid $100 registration feelzxuan:
The uniform cost, plus the registration fee - let's look at it this way. Assume you buy 2 sets of uniform. That will be $42. Plus the registration fee of $100, the extra cost is $142. If you were to go to Learning Vision, you pay additional $42.80 per month, making it $513.60 per year extra.Cons:
3. Uniform needs to buy new. $21 per set.
Hence, if you were to compare costs alone, it's a no-brainer.
Now, we need to consider the \"soft\" issues, like what you mentioned, curriculum, teachers, etc.
Are you attending the briefing session next week? -
Fion Loh:

Hi Fion!
Yes, different centres charge differently. I guess it is partly dependent on the rent they are paying.
By the way, Learning Vision has signed a 10-year lease at SP2. Hence, you can expect stability over the next 10 years, as in, Learning Vision should be in SP2 for the next 10 years, barring unforeseen circumstances.

Hi lzxuan!
My First Skool is the new name for the former NTUC Childcare. Little Skool House is supposed to be more upmarket. So, perhaps it won't be in the same league as My First Skool? :?
If you visit the website, you can't find anything on NTUC. So, perhaps they deliberately market this brand separately. To do so successfully, they must offer something good, right? Just look at the amount they are charging. -
Qms, my son used to in Friendly, withdrew him in august since fall sick too frequently. Will enroll him back in Jan. My girl in K1 Courteous.
I know one of your kid was under Pricilia, how about your K1 kid? Same as my girl?
I meant LV will advise their rate yearly and adjust not more than $50. Wonder will LSH doing the same thing?
For the $100 registration fee, I called up the \"hotline\" they said this is standard procedure. Unless we make more noise next week during briefing to get them waive and free us one set of uniform. Or uniform half price. Hehe.. UNION IS THE POWER. We all need to voice out same thing for every session. I registered for 28 Oct one. You? 27 Oct? If so update me after that. Hee..
Ya, diff LV charge differently, can refer to their website. As far as I know, LV @ IBP charge $1k per month!! So does it mean more \"worth\" to join there since we are charged $480?
If stay at LSH, the lease is 3 years? So meaning after 3 years there might occur such headache again?! My goodness, my number 3 is only 1 year old, LSH need to \"dong\" there for 6 years at least please... -
Trying to locate comments on LSH. Come by this http://sg.88db.com/sg/Services/Post_Detail.page/Learning_Education/Children_Enrichment_Programmes/?PostID=64457
Wonder is it the same LSH we talking about? How come uniform different?! -
Hi lzxuan!
lzxuan:
What a small world! My girl is in K1 Courteous, too. My son is in K2 Dependable. I suppose you know who I am, right?Qms, my son used to in Friendly, withdrew him in august since fall sick too frequently. Will enroll him back in Jan. My girl in K1 Courteous.

LSH needs to abide by certain regulations set by NUS, including fee adjustment, just like LV for the past 9 years. Hence, LSH needs to advise parents of any impending fee adjustment (which we all know - there's only one direction it will go).I meant LV will advise their rate yearly and adjust not more than $50. Wonder will LSH doing the same thing?
lzxuan:
Yes, UNION IS THE POWER! Please raise this up during your session on the 28th. I will only be attending the briefing on 30th. Hence, I need you to update me, instead. :evil:For the $100 registration fee, I called up the \"hotline\" they said this is standard procedure. You called up the hotline to enquire, and they told you it was the \"standard procedure\"? I am not surprised they replied you this way. Those people who mann the hotline are not in the position to make any decisions. We should speak to the people higher up in the hierarchy.lzxuan:
Ehh... I don't think it works this way. Different centres have different sets of corporate clients. In Kent Vale, NUS is the corporate client. SP2 - SP2 tenants will be their corporate clients. Similarly, for the IBP centre, the corporate clients will be tenants around that area. So, unless you work in IBP, you cannot \"bring\" your \"corporate customer\" status from NUS to IBP.Ya, diff LV charge differently, can refer to their website. As far as I know, LV @ IBP charge $1k per month!! So does it mean more \"worth\" to join there since we are charged $480?
lzxuan:
LSH bid for the management of the childcare centre together with NUS Co-op. So, perhaps it won't be so easy to \"get rid\" of LSH once the organisation starts managing the childcare centre? :?If stay at LSH, the lease is 3 years? So meaning after 3 years there might occur such headache again?! My goodness, my number 3 is only 1 year old, LSH need to \"dong\" there for 6 years at least please...
 This is just my guess.
