There are daycare centres for dementia seniors to keep them occupied.

If an elderly relative (dementia) wander off on his own, got lost in the streets of Singapore, can’t remember his own name nor address where he stay, how to trace him back ? Any device to wear, eg. watch or something, to locate him ?

Thanks starlight, as of now my family prefers to spend as much time with her as possible as we have her old memories which they do not have. However, it is a possibility to explore for perhaps certain days for her to have some new encounters. Maybe a good idea...thanks again.

If you learn, you will love the game.
            The complexity makes it fun.
You can try learning the rules and practising it here: http://www.singaporemahjong.com/mah5/
before you start playing with friends on a real table.
Otherwise learning with friends is also fun.

My mum refused to learn whenever I offered to teach her...now she is having serious dementia, it's really sad but nothing we can do much....only talk to her as much as we can to slow down the process. It is frustrating for her too.
I am sorry to hear your mum is having serious dementia. Could she still take care of her daily life, like eating, going toilet, etc, by herself?

I agree playing mahjong is so fun and I consider mahjong playing is the best boradgames I have played. The problem is playing with friends on a real table may involve some money and don't know whether one's can take this type of \"excitement\" or not.

best is to have h/p & add of family members with the senior so that if he/she wanders off and lost, anybody realise can bring him/her to police station or call the family.

Actually, I'm suffering from memory loss. I can talk halfway and then forget what I'm talking about in the same breath. Like today, I totally forgot to attend an important zoom meeting even though I reminded myself 50 minutes before the event. But I remember things that happened years ago like it was yesterday. I'm learning ways to work around this problem, but it is slow and I don't know if I can ever go back to the old days... sigh.

Best and simplest old school method.

Print a sticker on their ezlink card or any card they usually have in the their wallet with the following information.

                        Full Name:
                        Medical Condition: Dementia
                        Address:
                        Caregiver Contact Number:
Last 4 characters of NRIC (optional):

My advice is also to remove NRIC from their wallet. If need be, photocopy the NRIC and keep the original in a safe place.
