      From Nee Ann Poly website

      http://www.np.edu.sg/admissions/apply/Pages/dae.aspx

Applicants who have completed Integrated Programme (IP) Year 4 may be considered for admission to 3-year diploma courses based on their IP Year 4 results. Applicants who have completed Year 6 of the IP programme and obtained either a GCE 'A' level qualification or an IB Diploma may be considered for direct entry to Year 2 of selected diploma courses

As a student taking my PSLE this year,my parents prefer the O Level route, but i rather go for IP.My dad is okay with it,but my mom needs more convincing.

It is because for IP, you only need to take A Levels, which means if you do badly for A Levels, you wont have a certificate. Whereas, if you take O Levels then take A levels, you at least have a certificate.

        .
this is a very bad misconception and myth that was propagated among the older generation. Please tell your parents that there is the possibility of retaking a lvl should a student happen to not do well for a lvl. Besides in today's society having just an o lvl cert is almost as good as having a lousy a lvl cert.

          insider:

Some kids may get lost in the middle of their study journey (it can be in the middle of their IP / JC). This O level cert will enable them to pursue a diploma / a degree later when they wake up. 6 years of IP seem a bit 'far' to some kids. Having said that, I really have no idea if a child stops at the 4th year of their IP journey, what is the 'level' that he actually will be classified as. My daughter told me Dunman students have a choice of whether want to go IP or take O levels. She has friends on IP but still sign up for O level exams...
some of the the IP schools still have an 'O' Level class for those kids who do not perform during their year 1 to 4 ..... and if they do well enough in the 'O' Level, they are accepted back into Year 5 in the IP program....

It is just my opinion for i do not entertain nor like the idea of rushing through 4 years of secondary school education in less then 3.5 years. I wouldn't want to live a fast-paced life of studying for O Levels and then A Levels. If i can get into IP, then i would be able to do more projects, learn more and have a fun secondary school life at my own comfortable, luxurious pace.

The benefits of IP is that you don't just secure a place for your secondary education, you secure a place for your JC education too, without having to fight for that 3 points to get into top JCs like HCJC and RJC.

This is just my 2cts worth though.
Correction: They aren't HCJC and RJC anymore, they're HCI (college) and RI (JC)

                O level might be better…

There is less stress and the people seem happier…
There are also fewer projects and longer holidays
In addition, they also have opportunities to explore many things

IP is very stressful. There are projects almost every night and we only sleep past midnight everyday. I don’t know about the other IP schools but i now Cedar VCA IP is like this. There are projects every week and we learn things that are only taught in JC.

In Cedar IP, subjects such as Home Economics and D&T are also not taught. Instead, we are taught things such as Design Thinking and Financial Literacy which are quite irrelevant.

Look at the other good points of IP…u gals have a cut above the rest. U gals belong to the elite group of students. Cheer up!

Hmmm...not that my boy is exceptionally bright (he prolly couldn't get into his school via S1) but he doesn't seem stressed to me leh!

But I do agree with you that you shouldn't force yourself to take up subjects which u do not like. IP may not fit everyone.

Hi I am from VCA too, so I was shortlisted to go for the IP and there's interviews this Thurs. Would you mind sharing with me about the curriculum? Is there more emphasis on projects or is there more emphasis on pen and paper? And please share with me the advantages and disadvantages of IP.

I would really appreciate your answer, I've been stressing out over this IP for 1 week now.... :?:

With the 7 new schools introducing IP is there any chance of IP COP score getting lower?
