    • RE: All About Working With Children Who Are Weak Academically

Can I suggest getting your son interested in the story of the 3 Kingdoms in Chinese? Let him watch a good Chinese version of the show (careful of violence), read books on it and even play the game on PC/ipad etc.

Once he is hooked, he will naturally be watching/listening/reading Chinese.

      Capri mum:
      Dear fellow mummies

My boy is taking PSLE in 2017, he is very weak in Chinese, failed his P5 Chinese SA2. He has been attending chinese group tuition since Term 3 in P5, but he just have zero interest in the subject. I am really at my wit's end.

Any suggestions how could I help him?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    • RE: Are Singapore students too stressed out?

I would love to have a girl (have 2 boys)! Girls seem like such angels! It's not good if its stress but it's probably good if she's taking notice of her peers putting in more effort and thus follows suit.

      Imp75:
not sure if DD is stressed out at her new school but she has changed markedly from her primary school time.
She used to laze around after school before doing hw or better still, the whole time on her phone if no hw.
Nowadays, she quietly goes inside her room and start taking out her notes etc...not sure if she's doing hw but definitely lesser time spent on social media or watching channel 8 drama with me.
She did mention this test and that test and surprise tests etc....(she flunk tingxie cos she had forgotten to study and I no longer help keep track of her schedule for her). I told her good time to reflect on herself how she should keep herself organized.....She was shocked though when her Sec 2 senior told her she works very hard.....I guess she has to learn to keep to this pace in this new environment.

      @ nebbermind

LOL, they seem \"smart\". Just cannot be too smart. Haha!

My son isn't worried yet because he spent primary 1 and 2 in an international school overseas. The style of teaching is very different but he still had lots of assignments even for weekends! (do work on egypt, olympics etc)

We returned to SG just after Pri 2 exams. So he's really only started to experience SG style primary school. Fortunately, this old school was actually ahead in math. I'm quite surprised but some of these better international schools already had subject based streaming etc way ahead of Singapore. So classes can be better paced for each student.

Anyway, I'm not bothered about him getting into GEP or anything like that. Do well enough is fine! *pops blood pressure medication - joking*

My boy not stressed out yet. But I AM stressed out.

Coz he doesn't understand what is at stake?

Was talking to two kids about PSLE and they happily said they are aiming for NA. When asked why, they said Express to difficult coz (maybe and) got to work very hard :slapshead:

Please cut down on Sugar! And ensure he drinks enough water (before school is great)

I hope it's ok if I post my non-profit blog here. No ads nothing.

    • RE: School bus or public bus for Primary school pupils.

My older boy is in P3 this year. How do you feel at ease? Somehow I feel uneasy at this early age. I personally started walking to school alone at P3 and took the bus (when shifted home) at P5. But Singapore in those days was safe. These days it’s a lot more complicated!

    • RE: Taking Wedding Anniversary Photos

I recommend that if you’re looking at going on a holiday soon… consider going to China. You can get a good studio like those Korean type… offer many good scenes and locations at a much cheaper price! La Luna is one I think. Photoshop for the women included. 😄
