    • RE: All About Teaching Values

      desperatemummy:
Any mom here experienced your child (p1/p2) lying and what would you do to stop it? Eg of lies - said finish homeworks but havent done, push responsibilities to friends/ baby sister etc.. I admit I usually work long hours, dont have time to check her work everyday, and easily lose patience but Ive tried it all - talked calmly, explained the bad habbits, cited stories about liers, punish (not cane) by cut short tv time etc Only lasted for a while before she start lying again ๐Ÿ˜ž

Can anyone help? I felt really bad about it and self blamed a lot too. Tempted to stay home to spend more time with her as she seemed picking up all sorts of bad habbits after going pri school but then it also mean lost of income. Headache! Any advice is appreciated!

Lying about finishing homework and actually have not done - could it be that she already tried doing but she doesnt know how to answer the question and no one to turn to for help that wise she puts her homework aside?
Have you ask her the reason for not completing her work?

Pushing responsibilities to friend/ baby sister - might be she know she has done something wrong but is afraid of punishment.
Most parents look at the surface of the problems but what exactly the child is thinking we really dont know.

So we must make it a point to communicate with our kids and let them talk about their problems to us instead of keep asking which they might not tell if they scare that when the problems is addressed, they might get punish/scolding.

I am also working on my communication skill with my 9YO DD

    • RE: Pocket Money

I gave my P1 girl $2 knowing that her food in her school cost $1 for main with fruit (ie. noodles with orange, rice with apple) & $0.60 for drink.

In the begining, I told her she can have cold drink once a week. But after week 2 she has been a very good girl. Not spending on drink. So everyday she will have $1 to save.
On days that she wanted to have sushi we will gave her $3 as sushi cost $1 for 3pieces(Not filling) so we let her upsize to $2 for 6pieces.

      huh?? eraser dust??

what is that used for? what is the attractiveness/currency in that these days??

my boy's classmates collects broken pencil leads (not mechanical pencil type).
my blur boy broke all his pencils/color pencils for 2 consecutive days to help his friend add to his collection before I confronted him and made him promised not to do so anymore.

What a trend! for kids nowadays?
What is the purpose of the dust & leads??? :?

Just like what I always tell my daughter.
Before you say others, please look at yourself first.
      A simple example:
DD: Daddy you have not buckle your seat belt.
Me: Have you? (She has not buckle up yet, and me buckled up)

    • Time Table

      Hi Parents,

My girl started P1 this year.
I am wondering if any parents here fix a "home" timetable for your primary school kids.
