Just read the programme n scope notes for math n geography. quite overwhelming

😓 i didn't really read mine in sec 1, but i guess they can sound really tough. No worries, they are better than you think it is:) No why do sec 1 exams start so late:( I think mine starts in week 3 :faint:

The first graded exam for sec 1 last year was math. Non-routine problem solving. It's very easy, don't worry too much. It's somewhere in week 6 last year...

No offence haha but scope notes are rubbish! The only part you should read is the Assessments part. The rest, just ignore. Nobody follows it and it makes everything sound much more difficult than it actually is 🙂

Just to clarify some inaccuracies. 😄
      1) There are no SLs in Sec 2. Only in Sec 1 Terms 2 & 3.
      2) It's not true that prefects automatically get to remain so for 4 years. Sec 2 PITs or prefects-in-training are under probation and a few every year do not get to become full-fledged prefects in Sec 3. Once you're confirmed as a Sec 3 prefect however, you will remain one till Sec 4.
      3) Except for Congress, PSB and House have to re-apply on a yearly basis for renewal of membership. Most who have performed well will get to carry on.

      Hope this clarifies matters. 😄

      1) Hmmm but I've seen Sec 2s with the green SL badge haha
      2) I think Sec 2 PITs are mostly promoted to Sec 3.
      3) Yep I think you're right on that:P

      2) The Sec 4 batch this year was completely confirmed, even though some people quit. I think that they try their best to confirm everyone and usually those who were not confirmed did something very majorly wrong or were just MIA the whole year. 🙂 I think that my batch is really quite enthu so far so I hope we'll all be confirmed!

      3) PSB kicks a lot. ;0 Correct me if I'm wrong but there are very few SPSLs.

Hi i was just wondering whether the orientation camp is compulsory or not?

Why do you want to miss it? It's a good bonding time with your classmates. Also you'll be spending the time preparing for the concert the next day I believe.

I believe we have had people miss it in the past but you really should not do that unless you have a medical reason or something because the experience is really amazing and the bond you share with your classmates and your classroom is really irreplaceable. You've survived the whole of Orientation for this camp! ❤ Make the most of it.

      Hello KSPians!

I just wanted to say that Orientation Day One has been wonderful, nobody got hurt as far as I know, and 112 is a lovely class ❤ If any of you are reading this, banana is very proud of you! 😄 Thank you parents, I hope you enjoyed CCAO!

      Tinkerbelle:
What colour hair accessories can the gals use? Navy blue? Tks 😂

Okay here are the rules on hair-accessories as far as I know:
      - Only dark blue (pinafore dark) and black hair accessories are allowed.
      - No overly large/conspicuous things that protrude too far/hang down like sticking a stuffed toy on your head or something
      - Accessories should help to maintain the professional image of the uniform and should not attract too much attention.

Generally all scrunchies/hairbands should be accepted, as well as those thin rubber hairties and neat ribbons (ribbons should not hang all the way down to the legs or something). Hair cannot touch the collar unless it is tied up. Loose locks (like those \"feelers\" that come down in front over the ears like in anime) are not allowed.

Just look neat haha, obviously you wont get booked for one strand coming out. Oh, and fringes should not touch the eyebrows or cover the eyes. 🙂

There are many from 112 too. Go banana! Must give them warm welcome.

Yes sir! Haha 😉 ORIENTATION IS TOMORROW Make sure everyone gets to school and goes to the hall by 7.10 am. There should be student leaders positioned in the foyer to direct you, and the class I/Cs will be standing in the hall amongst all the confused Year Ones holding up placards. Just go to them, don't attempt to pass yourself off as being from 101 when you're from 102, I can assure you it won't work haha. WELCOME TO RGS!! Yay so excited, I hope you and your DDs are excited too!

Erm, what exactly are we supposed to bring?[/quote]Bring your Reporting Day forms and a water bottle. Pens should be in your bag. Remember not to be late and bring a snack for recess if you want. Wallet/phone is allowed but keep the phone on silent.

hey all 🙂 and especially to jtoh who asked that question about sec 3, my friend read this forum and wants to give a reply! so i'm posting on her behalf.

      --
Hi everyone I just wanted to get this off my chest cos reading all the posts it just makes me feel quite…. Sad? I don’t know like as in no offence to the sec1s in this forum or anything, but a lot of things change as you go up the years. Life gets a lot more complicated and really, a lot of times in RGS we are just so wrapped up in our own bubble, blissfully unaware of what is going on in the world around us and that’s just… not ideal? Yes, I am sec3 and to be very honest, 2011 has been a really terrible year for me, everything that could possibly go wrong, did. And I guess its been tough, but one thing that really kept me going was my friends who stuck by me, through it all. This year, in school, I’ve experience extreme elation to the point of tears, yet at the same time, there are sometimes you just completely break down in the face of everything that’s going on. yes, I’ve cried millions of times this year, not just in school but at home, on the bus, in the car, at outside school areas where CCA is conducted. The stress at sec3 to perform is just… unbelievably high, and is perhaps brought about by my own class, where everyone studies really really hard and um the average gpa is around 3.7? the thing about sec3 is that everyone tells you about how you are taking over, how you have to step up, how you cannot just merely stand in the shadows, you really have to step out, lead your juniors, lead the school to greater heights.

But then again sec3 is also a time for experiences- I did take part in the nationwide NDP this year (yes I’m in a UG haha) and its really things like this that are unforgettable, yes NDP did take up a lot of my time BUT the pride and joy of being able to be part of YOUR NATION’S National Day is just amazing 🙂

For me, my grades went up by…. Quite a lot this year mainly because you do get to drop subjects you don’t like, and because of the new “core5 best2” GPA computation that allows you to not count every subject- it allows you to pursue your interest without worrying about your GPA being affected, which I think is a good scheme on the part of the school. But despite my increased gpa, I honestly only started studying like… on the day of my geography exam for EYAs as there is simply not enough time, and the school did put bio and geog on the same day so I chose one over another in a sense.
Sec3 is really a time for a turmoil of emotions.

I guess one thing I would like to warn the parents of incoming sec1s is that although yes RGS is a so called “better school” it doesn’t mean that the students are any different. We are all after all teenagers and sometimes we do commit foolish acts due to our… youth and lack of experience? And not to mention sometimes life is just unfair. There are people who go home everyday and sleep and watch TV and end up with a 3.94 GPA, but there are also people who study really really really very hard and end up with subpar GPAs? And the people who study so so hard are just really disappointed? It’s the feeling of putting in your best effort yet with no results, but there are no wounds that time can’t heal and yes, people do move on and this is yet another valuable life lesson learnt.

I guess to sum it all, sec3 is just a major waking up call for a lot of us. As such everyone grows up, everyone matures and I guess its really been my best year in rgs ever, because despite the toughness and all the things going on, its good to know that 1) I’ve survived 2) I’ve come out of this year as a much better person 3) you know who will stand by you through it all.
You scare me  Oh wow I thought sec 3 was quite okay I mean I know sec 1 is slack but I didn't know sec 3 would be such a stressful experience! 😧 Never mind haha thank you so much for posting this, not just for the incoming Sec Ones but for the incoming Sec Twos too 🙂

      Hi bananamonster,

are major changes to be expected, or minor changes with only a few people moved around?

Usually people will be ADDED to classes and certain people will be moved around like the appeal people but not many 🙂
