RE: CHIJ Family of Schools
hi, i wanna share my thoughts about which CHIJ to send our daughter regardless if we have the 2nd kid.
when we think primary school, we also think affiliation to secondary. so for eg - if we go OLGC, the secondary would be SJC.
If we choose SN, TP or KC, likelihood is our girl will continue to remain in same premise.
unless you wouldnt mind the kid traveling a bit during Sec 1, but i m sure the activities are unlikely to be lesser than primary. i used to have my primary and secondary just walking distant from my flat so i know the blessings.
so do consider also the secondary school factor when choosing which primary school. -
RE: All About Home Addresses
i heard of parents who bought a flat in condo, kid didnt get into the school next door, they sold and moved away (dunno where). its really a risk.. another idea is to look out for balloting periods to snap a good price?

er, may I know which church is the nearest to Maris Stella? :? -
RE: All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

er, I think I understand what u mean now. registration to a church means you are a member to that church. but, what i dun understand is, is there any catholic church which is affiliated with MSPS? if not, then why do we need to register with a church? :?
what i heard is if the parish is near the school, you might want to check if they are able to recommend. some friends who goes to OLPS / Holy Fam in Katong got their kids in KC and St Stephen's.... i guess we just gotta try all means...
strange, cos when i switched parish, i went to the office and was just chatting with them telling them i am new to the church, they asked me to fill up a form saying is for registration??!! hmmm... i didnt ask cos i thought that is normal...beachotel:
May I know how to do the registration?
I dun think so. Is there any parish church that is 'registered' with the school? I've never heard of it.
Also, Catholic dun 'registered' with any church, although you may be frequently going to that church.
I think Tulip is right about the Cert of Baptism? Will go and ask more info.

btw, i found this -

hi, i believed it is referring to parish church. of cos you can walk into any catholic church to pray but its ur parish that you have \"registered\".

RE: Growing Up Gifted
my kid (1.5yo) is one with short attention span and shy nature doesnt help in trying to make her attend a playground without us (tried that, didnt work). So GUG, with a parent around be, it is more comforting for her.
She is only into her 3rd weekly session and i see a great difference. Willing to sit on the teachers’ lap, walking around saying hi / bye with a high-5 to her playmates and she is very engaging in the sessions (almost).
personally the teachers’ capabilities, care and passion are all too impt and i see all 3 or more here. I will definitely continue her sessions so long she continues to enjoy herself and amaze us.
The other day the word - MAN was taught and she can pronounce it almost immediately! Trust me, my kids is no linguist and i wasnt expecting that from just the MMMs, AAAs and NNNs.
i was in 2 of the 3 sessions and i personally enjoyed it and brought the teachings home to her and we had fun! the teachers created a conducive environment and kids are under no pressure. my next challenge is for her to sit still during the Chinese phase. -

yah, I'm also confused by that quote.
as far as I know, catholic do not need to join or be 'member' of any church. they can just go into any church and pray.
Yes, thus, for your case, from what I've heard, if you are registering in a Catholic school, you just need to produce the Certificate of Baptism (basically to proof that you are a Catholic).
