That really depends on the class distribution.

Maybe the system used did not reflect the pupils ability!

      Hi atrecord,

Thanks for the information. will the school inform us when there is a change in time. my girl is taking school bus, i just wonder
will the bus fetch her back to student care. Headache for parents. :stupid:

Yes, I understand that the school will liaise with the school buses to ensure that they pick up and send students at the amended times when there are changes in the sessions.

It's usually the parents who send/pick up kids on their own that might be 'forgotten'.

Vtsa is right, there no problem for those taking the school bus cos the bus aunty always remind the parents when they pick up the kids. there are time that although I read the memo but forget to log down, the bus aunty always remind or the teacher also remind the kids on the school hours.

the teacher said the children will like it as they will have Gymnastics, chinese painting and some others painting. Sorry i am not too sure of the details as busy filling up form and tour around the school.
so far so good i am happy will the school, hope our children like it too! my daughter love the school pond!

      nice day! :celebrate:
My eldest is there and the younger will also be in YZPS next year . Like to share that the modular CCA really benefit the kids, they got a chance to try different things, learning typing, dancing, painting, microsoft, swimming, chess/ scrabble.

In the begining, i am also worried about wed but soon realised that there is no problem for the kid cos she really enjoy the wed and look forward to it.

      Striker09:
Because of my 6 yrs old son, I have personally spending times exploring 3G Abacus & Traditional Abacus.

After completing the 3G ABACUS instructor course, I have applied the methods to teach my son. It is very simple & easy to understand. As such, he has shown more interest in mathematics than before.

I am planning to let him take part in the INTERNATIONAL Grading Exam this coming DEC 09. If possible, I will let him take part in year 2009 competition.

Currently, I am teaching kids & parents the 3G Abacus.
If you are interested in 3G ABACUS, please email me.
Hi Striker09, wat is 3G ABACUS? wat is the different with traditional Abacus?

Is it good? Thinking of sending my daugther there?
      Hi there,

My girl has been with MA( Heartland mall) since early this year, review her course work and also invite to seat in once to get more feel on how the teacher teach, everything seem ok, alot of interactive between the child-child and teacher-child. They do alot of display of the children work in class, so it will be good to visit the classroom when you send your child for class.

It does not reflect on her CA result as her grammar and voca is still weak, so is thinking whether is it effective for her cos $= result , so looking for any other school that could focus more on her weakness.
      Anyone has any suggestions/recommendation??

Wonder if it is ok to carry on attending swimming lessons? Parents, will you stop your children's swimming lessons temporarily? The public pools are usually very crowded during weekends. Wonder if there is increase risk of getting the flu bug there.

I am stopping my girl from swimming classes temporary cos is really crowded at the public pool during weekend. esp now some who caught the flu do not have obvious symptons and carry on with their usual life plus there are many irresponsible pple. 😢

    • RE: Primary education gets revamp

:? Is modular really a better alternatives? For the current U and Poly modular system already showing that is not working well, I have colleagues which graduated from both can't even remember wat they have studied with the modular system but can remember wat they study in the sec and A level, So is modular system really good for foundation building for the Pri school kids?

      sleepy:
I feel that a modular system would be better. Topics examined will not be re-examined again.

After a few chapters, have a mini exam. The next few chapters, another mini exam.

Instead of concentrating the weightage on SA1 & SA2, have equal weightage for these mini exams. This encourages consistent hardwork & reward consistent performance. And also more manageable for the kids since they don't have to chew on the whole textbook

As topics examined will not be re-examined again, these mini exams can cover more indepth type of questions since only testing on those few chapters. Can incorporate more creative thinking type of questions to stimulate the mind & perhaps to differentiate the really intelligent ones

Tks ksmummy. Will probably bring my son to Kovan centre for assessment this Saturday morning.

My son is in K1 this year turning 5 next week. He seems to like mathematics so would like to send him and see whether he enjoys and benefit from it.

Currently he is attending I Can Read Stage 1 and Seimpi Encore music class.

He seems to enjoy both but will not automatically do reading or play the keyboard by himself.

For the I Can Read class, he was just promoted from PRP to I Can Read (Stage1) 2 months ago and the change is very drastic. PRP teaches them to try to blend a word and do writing as homework but I Can Read give spelling and comprehension with passages/stories to read . Getting stressful and looks like he is not ready for it. Might want to defer him to few months later.

Anyone got similar experience to advise ?

      Tks,
      JSC
My girl is 6 now and she started the ICR at 4yr old and started from PRP( she really learn very well at this stage), she got promoted quite fast and get to the ICR Stage 1, I remember I have a hard time coaching her for the spelling, and early this year she completed the ICR Stage 2, and they introduce the PSLP program as they claim she is too young to start Creative writing.
The syllabus is much simpler than the ICR1 & 2 and not as tough as the ICR, when I question the centre in charge, they say they are moderating the syllabus, so seem that my girl become their trial. So I have decide to stop her cos I dun think that I should be paying $500 for 10 lesson and being their trial. very dissapointed with the school.
