Many parents thought that Temasek primary is affilliated with Temasek Secondary. This is the first wrong.


Some even think that Temasek primary -> Temasek Secondary -> Temasek JC -> Temasek Holdings. The is second wrong.

What is more correct is: children who are studying in an affilliated primary school tend to be complacent. A score of 200 will brings them into Express stream, 150 into Normal Academice and 90 into Normal Technical. I normally discourage parent to send their children to affilliated school.

There is of course a risk to this: what if the child is not the \"study kind\" for whatever reason (not so bright, slow learner .... etc). For such cases affilliated school would be better choice. For example, affilliated secondary school accept their primary students at 200 while other school will have to come in at 220.

One advice for kiasu parents: if you want your children to score higher than 230, make sure they do well in Chinese. Our tutors at http://singapore.math-chinese-tutor.com know this too well. Many students are aware that Chinese is not a well-liked subject. But these students are not aware that because Chinese is not well-liked, it becomes an easy subject to score A. An \"A\" in Chinese can easily push the agreegate up by 20 points.

If your child score 235 and he can't get into school with COP (Cut-Of-Point) of 235, there is always good chance to appeal. I have successfully done it for my 2 children, appealing to Dunman High and Tanjong Katong). I have also helped some parents to appeal for different kind of scenarios (switching from N-Level to Express ... etc)
