Just received WL for my son too.

      A little dilemma here...

My son however also accepted into another DSA school. We went to both DSA and found SJI more suitable for my son growth in term of culture and character building.

      So, questions...

      1. During school preference ex, can I put SJI WL as 1st choice and XXX CL as 2nd choice?
      2. If he still been rejected by SJI and got into XXX. Now, can he still join S1 Posting and choose SJI after PSLE release?

Anyone can reveal what's the chance for WL to get into SJI?

      Kaypohing here.

If you put WL SJI and then CO XXX, if WL is converted, all is well. But I think if you die die don't want XXX and rather wait for PSLE results, please do NOT accept the CO of XXX. Once you accept, there is no turning back. I think if you do not list the CO, and only put WL SJI, then if WL is not converted, your Ds will join the S1 selection. IF your DS cannot make SJI for psle, he also cannot go back and say got CO to XXX.

Kindly note that a child who didn't make to SJI and XXX for psle results may end up in YYY. this is of course a CHOY situation.

Hope your DS can get into SJI!!!! :rahrah:

      Just to add on.

There is no point putting XXX CO as first choice if u prefer SJI. Reason being that CO is CONFIRMED will get in. Once you out xxx CO as first choice you will definitely get it. On the other hand, if you put xxx CO as second choice, you don't have to worry that you will lose the place to another person who put it as first choice because your place in xxx has been reserved, confirmed.

And yes, if die die must go SJI, you have to leave out xxx CO as your option. In fact, it might be better if you can call xxx and tell them you won't consider them. Why so? This is to be fair to other parents who are on xxx WL. Cos someone in that WL will be converted to CO immediately. Must do this before 31 August though. Always remember, for every CO, there is more than 10 who did not get the CO. You don't want to deprive those who did not get it the chance if u r very sure u dun want xxx. šŸ˜„

For RI, there used to be a supplementary intake whereby boys who received WL (which did not convert to CO) can appeal to RI (assuming not DSAed to other schools) after release of psle results and BEFORE the Sec 1 posting exercise. Anyone knows if this intake is still valid and in practice?

P/s: i read this from DSA 2011 thread.
I can confirm this will no longer be allowed under the new ruling by MOE which requires school to look into appeal only if the students meet the COP.

I heard that if u got CO from the school and to eligible for an express course you just need a t score of 188, is it truth?

as long as it's the min score to qualify for express. Not sure about exact, always thought it's 200.

But then if really 188, think hard if can adapt to the school....

Hard doesn't mean it is impossible. To strike a balance between sports and academic it is tough.

Hi, I am a newbie here but have been reading and following this thread very closely. Our son has gotten a WL from ACSI under DSA Sports. Wanted to know what are the chances of converting the WL to a CO.

Also, dont know what is the WL number. What questions should we ask the School when we go for a Briefing today? We dont know whether the WL is under the IP or O level track. Our preference was the IP track.

He was also shortlisted for the Interview at VS under the DSA Sports stream but we have not heard from VS as yet. Does that mean that no more chances of VS through DSA?

      Appreciate feedback.
I think your question will be answered today. You can check with the school when you are there for the briefing. From what I learnt from other parents, if you are on the waitlist, the chances of getting a place is high since most of the students with CO will also get offer from other schools. Not all will take up.

As for IP or O level track, you need to check with the teacher who called or informed you. He or she will know which track your DS is offered.

Got a call from ACS(I) on Monday too! Will be attending the briefing later at 3.30pm.

Congratulations! We didn't receive any call. 😢 May I know if your DS is from a feeder school or GEP? Thanks.[/quote]My DS is not from a feeder school and not from GEP. From what I understand, feeder school and GEP has no advantages as all are required to take the HAST test and rank accordingly. I'm referring to the Academic route. Not so sure about Sports.

      Hi,

Just like to find out anyone received any letter or email from CHS and ACS(I)? My DS applied DSA for these two schools and until now, there are no news. Is this normal? Thanks!

Meanwhile, preparing him for the coming PSLE Orals!

      Hi,

Not sure if this has been asked before but I have some problem with search function in KSP Forum.

I registered my DS for DSA (Academic) in CHS. He is required to take a English and Math test his coming Saturday. May I know what is the format and what topics would be tested? Is it similar to GAT? Any preparation needed? Thanks in advance!
