Just to share, i will register my DD for Ngee Ann under Phase 2B and monitor Tao Nan during Phase 2C despite she is qualified under Phase 2B for both schools. At least i am assured of a place in a nearby school within walking distance.

Although not 100% to be always the case, chances for a place under 2B are usually better than those for 2C. Anyway, no harm monitoring. 😄

Ballot is like gambling, leaving fate to the divine. I don't like that feeling. The 'what-if' factor is enough to drive me nut. I knew someone who tried and failed to get in in both phases. Ended up his girl has to travel all the way to Opera Estate. Sigh...

parents renting houses & applying for ACS primary, minimum 2 yrs rental required :-

      http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=699&start=810

those who are caught unaware and intend to register son in ACS 6 months later for P1 2013 (or P1 2014 intake) but with less than 2 years rental may wish to call up school to verify if true, determine if it's going to impact you (if any), under which affected phase (2B or 2C) or citizenship.

      telephone:-

      - ACS (Junior): 67337911 / 67337912
      - ACS (Barker): 62501633
Correct me if I am wrong, I am under the impression that one has to stay for six years if the registered address is a leased one?

Millan, depending which part of pasir panjang, some schools that your bro can consider will be QiFa, Fairfield Methodist, radin mas, chij kellock. These schools that I have mentioned are more than 1km, unfortunately. Schools such as Fairfield, radin mas are hotly contested even for PV while others are manageable depending on that year’s enrollment. So it really come down to what your bro’s expectation for his kid/s.

Was talking to my dd’s teacher yesterday about each school is suitable for her and the teacher commented that my dd will probably be happier at Ngee Ann rather than TNS though she probably can cope with both schools. It sets me thinking when she mentioned that whether I want my dd to be ‘a big fish in a small pond’ or ‘a small fish in a big pond’. While both theory is right on it’s own, I guess at the end, it comes down to how much we understand our kids despite we, as a parent, will have to continue to struggle with the dilemma of which school to go. Just to ‘vent’. 😛

After reading all ksp’s views on schools. I can only say that while we know that all schools are the same, as a parent, we just want to ensure that we do whatever we can to send our kids to a good school. This is so that when the kids grown up, and for some reasons they did not make it big, they cannot blame us for not trying but only themselves for not working hard enough.

Next year, will be registering for DD. staying within 1pm from TN and Ngee Ann. Looking at this year result, decide to register with Ngee Ann under phase 2B next year though she is also eligible to register with TN for that phase. At least I am assured of a place with Ngee Ann.
