Am planning to go to Taipei this Dec hols with hubby and daughter (11). Leofoo Resort Guanshi seems interesting. It is touted as Asia's only African safari resort. Could not find any reviews on the place though... has anyone been there and is it worth the $$? Any other places worth visiting in Taiwan?

You will be able to read the photos captions & have a better ideas of the places of interests worth visiting. Overall, my daughters of 8 & 10 love Taipei City. We visited Leofoo Village too.

comments from frens abt prudential that the hotel is very old. as for langham, out of my budget. Looking at abt S$250 per nite. i have 3 adults 2 kids. so difficult to find 1 hotel which can accomodate all.

Hi Rose, my family of 4 (2A2C) are going to HK this Nov. We've booked L'Hotel Nina near to Tsuen Wan West MTR. The rate is $220 per nite, maybe U can consider this pretty new 5* hotel which is near to shopping centres too.

I’ve been without maid for over 5 months, yeah!!!!! I know it sounds nicer to announce when at least hit the 6 months or half year period, but heck..who cares if there’s two weeks more to go? If I can survive my past months without one, what’s that 2 weeks, eh? Gosh, it wasn’t tough at all without a maid (considered that I grew up with maids attending to me). Life without a maid is so so much better! It’s all about time management for me and my home is so much cleaner and tidier now. I don’t need to check if my kitchen, bedrooms, floor, bathrooms are clean because I cleaned them and they remained clean. Previously, I wasted a lot of my time by cleaning after the maid.


My expenditures for my household decreased without a maid. Grocery bills gone down so much. Quantity of food has gone down so so much. Back then, a week supply of food ($300) for me, kid and maid lasted for 4 to 5 days. Now, it's less than $100 a week. My kid and I are on organic foodies. With maid then, no organic..cannot 'tahan' the cost. I’m using quality products for my household cleaning, and yet still saving so much on my monthly bills. Yiiipiii!!! And best of all, I don’t need to wake up having to face a black horsey face to begin my day.

I can’t imagine having a stranger in my home again. Thanks Lord for the blessing for the past months and will continue my days without a maid

Hi mocharita, Very proud to announce that I’ve been without maid for over 8 months! I've maid for 10 years since I have my 1st child. 1st maid was with me for 2 years and another maid was 8 years. As a SAHM for 2 girls, I've to face my maid 24hrs.

The 1st 3 month w/o a maid was really hard to deal with, I was very tempted to hire a part timer to help...and my new home is smaller and there is no spare room for a fulltime maid. Today, I enjoy my life without a maid and am happy to share that I did it :lol: it is a matter of getting used to life without a maid. :celebrate:

Hi Minnie2004, how old are your kids? Sure it is stressful to travel with young children. Just to share my experience, I trained my girls to walk the park so often that they could walk 3 hours non-stop at Beijing Forbidden City, no stroller, no carry at all. My girls were only 4 & 6 then. We travel with them every year, and it sure gets better every year. This year, we are ready to fly to Europe.


I’m very tempted to hire part-time maid too when my FT one was gone. However, after i passed the 1st 3 months "adjustment period" w/o FT maid, I think i can cope. Housework chore is never ending, i tell myself to be less "demanding" and i enjoy the privacy w/o a FT maid at home. Plus, the money saved will be used for more holidays for my family. It’s a way for me to motivate myself to manage my family all on my own.

During the weekdays, my kids have to attend Guzheng (CCAs in sch) & Wushu (at CC). Weekends, they go for Piano (Yamaha Group Class), Abacus & Arts classes (at CC) together. No tuition at all for them, I want them to manage school work by themselves. My hubby & I just guide them as and when they need help. So far so good…

We still do. Hold hands, me holding onto his arm or he putting his hand around my shoulder or my back. Even with children in tow.

Hi all, I'm new this club. Has been SAHM 10 yrs ago and still is...my 2 daughters are in P2 & P4. Just let go of maid of 8 years last year and coping the daily runs all by myself. Sad to say, hubby dun help much. Everyday, I've to wake up at 5.30am, prepare BF for the girls. Home is 17km away from sch so hubby has to leave home at 6.30am to send them to sch. I will return to my dreamland till 8.30am.

After my daily laundry and breakfast, it's the time for myself to catch up w my friends over the MSN, playing Farmville & Cafe games at FaceBook and clearing emails. Have to leave home by 1pm to fetch my girls for lunch together (if i dun cook by the morning).

By the time we're back home, it is usually 3pm, they have to bath & do their homework. I'll do some housework and prepare simple dinner. We will have dinner when hubby is back ard 6pm. The girls will sleep ard 9pm and hubby & I will have time for ourselves! I'm happy to read my magazines, shop ard the malls, play FB games and pamper myself to nice meals. Once a while, I'll meet my old friends for a buffet. Currently, I'm planning for my family June holiday. Yearly travel makes me happy and looking forward to it.
