MyPillow:Yes, quite a number of my peers in their early forties have met the current min sum and fully paid off one property. They are currently servicing the second property.starlight1968sg:The ERS quoted is for near future? 10 years later, the figure will be very different
That's why Min sum is increasing every year. Must monitor the changes & Use it as a gauge - I do know of people who have meet or above current min sum at age 40- they are or claimed they are avg income earners who may own one HDB,1 condo ; or 2 condo etc, one of their house is fully paid so they are only servicing 2nd private ( can pay off if they want to , but nobody will do this since mortgage rate is still below 2%)

RE: Retirement Insurance

If one meets the enhanced retirement sum of $249,000, one can receive monthly payout of $1800 to $2000. I am far from it. Looks like need to return to workforce...
If putting the amount needed for property loan, car loan, holiday expenses, and other insurance commitments aside (since these vary among individuals), an average couple may need about present value $3000-$4000/month (10 years valued at about $4000-$5300 and 20 years valued at about $5300-$7000 with inflation at 3%) to live a reasonable quality retirement life. For singles, may be about 65-70% of that (since no one to share fixed cost).starlight1968sg:
Financial planners always ask \"how much u need when u retire?\"
I can't answer this qn bec I don't know
Above just my thought for 'average' families. -

DD2 is K1 this year and does not attend any English enrichment. I have teaching her phonics and doing assessments with her. She is able to read independently now. I have been deferring sending her for enrichment classes but will most likely send her for English enrichment in Pri 1. I am also worried about her missing out on the window of opportunity.feel like keeping track, repost to home thread..
been thinking about the kids stuff..cannot sleep. trouble, tomorrow I have a full day class. I have no urgency at all with dd1 SA2 prep..still have no feeling even I replayed her SA1 marks in my head..mind just cant focus on more than 1 thing nowadays. At this very moment, I m thinking maybe better to just let dd2 go ahead with her Eng tuition. I know I wont be sitting with her, read to her or fully able to teach her. Dd2 is writing more on her own now. Last night, she was trying to write a passage on what she needs/have to do every morning after waking up..starting with Firstly.... Secondly.., Thirdly..and so on..I only added 'ly' for her and corrected few spelling mistakes..unable to correct the sentences for her.. better let her learn under proper guidance of a teacher for fear I may regret again.
...
Err I m thinking hor..if I should let dd2 go without tuition for English for at least P1 ? Her grammar, vocab are not there yet..can say anyhow hantam type.. Kinda more of self learned now. Somehow could read many words, I believe ..I thought cc taught alot of stuff but doesn't seem so if I m correct. I asked her who taught her, she will tell me I just read in my heart that sort of answer. She has the initiative at least for now...before sleeping, she told me she could spell rhythm something..true enough. Initially my plan was for her to go tuition after mid of this year..then dragged..then taught maybe start next Jan..now thinking if I should just let her be? One side of me says maybe can defer for as long as possible but at the same time so worry that I will miss out the window of opportunity for her to absorb as much as possible. Chinese tutor, cher told me her pinyin should be ok..next year can teach out of classroom thingy(?)..but Eng is more important yeah..dd1 was so 'cham' then for being unprepared ..good if could hear some thoughts from parents here...
If your DD can cope with the primary 1 assessments, she is probably fine without tuition. It also depends on our expectations. -

If you can live with the schools in 2Cs, then can consider option 1.Hi,
Inputs required on which option to go for:
Option 1:
Within 1km, phase 2C but definitely balloting for SC < 1km (based on many years history)
Option 2:
Bet 2-3km, phase 2C but undersubscribed for past 2-3 years in this phase (altho prior to that there were balloting in this phase for SC > 2km)
Thanks! -

RGPS is a gep centre. If you think your child can thrive in the environment, then can consider. St Margarets has affiliation to its Sec. This will help take some stress off PSLE.Raffles girls phase 2C and St margarets 2Cs...latter is closer to home...
Which one to go for..dilemma..pls guide..thanks -

NYGH WL is as good as a CO. My DD had a WL last year and like what Mdm Heng would have mentioned at the briefing, based on past 11 year records, all WL traditionally would be converted to a CO, except for Year 2014.
:thankyou: -
RE: DSA 2017
My friend’s dd was given co by st nic and wl by nygh. Her dd prefer nygh. What are her chances for nygh?

If she rejects CO from school B, her DSA efforts will be wasted. PSLE results are uncertain. My friend has this problem. Her DD was unsuccessful from Sch A but received a CO from Sch B. Her choice school is really Sch A. Now her dilemma is whether to reject CO from Sch B and try her best in PSLE to enter her dream Sch A (but risky because you won't know the results until Nov), or to accept CO from Sch B but with possible regret if PSLE results good enough to enter Sch A?
Any parents with past experiences (successful and unsuccessful ones) to share?
