I am just checking to see if anyone encountered similar situations. According to my MIL, she was examined and found to have high cholestrol by polyclinic but they didn't give her any medication for it. So my SIL brought her to private clinic and they started her on the meds. Short of buying it in JB, can she go back & question/purchase meds from them vs private? This is because each trip to private clinic sets her back by $200 to $300. And she goes to them like 6 times a year. :moneyflies: TIA for any advice.

some supermarts even insist customer must buy 2 because ‘system inside indicate 2 so cannot change’. I will then ask around if can split up and take 1 each and most of the time I manage to find someone to share unless there is substancial savings and everyone takes up the offer for $$avings.

insider:I have a 'dream' to organise a Dinner and Dance event for my teachers, in a grand hotel ball room, complete with performance and a good lucky draw. Each can bring along a partner.When I look at my diligent teachers who give their best in their work to the children and their parents and the kind of usually very simple lives that each lives, I want to give them something comparable to what most corporate firms will have - the annual D&D. Such event will allow each to doll up and feel special for the night.Hope I can realise the dream by next Teacher's Day. My teachers are very special in my heart, always...PS: Such event (except maybe for the lucky draw items) will not be sponsored by parents coz I have already 'milked' them in their monthly fees...Are you suggesting that monthly fees paid are used to fund the D&D ? which school is that ?

Nebbermind:This month alone I was 'spotted' by TP twice. Once 2 motor patrol pulled along side me and claimed I was using the HP while I wasn't. No summon issued although it wasn't at all safe to come out of the car on a busy e'way.then got a warning for speeding along Lornie on a Sat morning.Bro & sis, better take care if u r driving!Thanks! was going a bit fast this morning becos late. As for the first, this month = 7th month? Anyway, that one easy to prove your innocence. Drive safe!

Hi Everyone, I’ve called my gfren & passed on all your valuable advice.Thank you so much for your time to help.Just an update, she was told that if she were to register online, MOE will tik kam tik kam & just assign any school to her. So, she going to assign a proxy to do it on her behalf.So she gets a good school that is near her place.

CookiesMonster:I hv a DD in P1 looking to enroll her in the above martial art..My 14yo does Wing Chun at some private estate. I'm not sure how he got the contact, but he and 2 or 3 classmates go for the same class. My ds has black belt in Karate already though, so we just let him go have some fun lah. Seems like the payment system quite flexi too, bc he told them he can only go 3x/mth.

3Boys:fishatwork:sad to say, there are some parents who hope that their children will be very independent enough to take care of themselves and don't have to bother the parents so much. They would rather work over-time, go out with friends for drinks and leave the child in the grandparents/ maid's care and probably think that their responsibility is just to provide material needs to the child, but not spending enough time with them. Different strokes for different folks. The concept of parents spending a lot of quality time with their children is not a universal one. For instance, in some cultures, children may be sent off to boarding school at very young ages. They don't necessarily turn out too badly......hmm, let's put it this way, is the child agreeable/ happy with such arrangement? (boarding school) Well, the parents who make this decision for them may not know this might not be the best option afterall.Parents who spend more time with their children will go a long way, the more you are involved in your child's life, the more you can readily offer guidance and support at the right time since you understand his weaknesses and strengths better.

Thanks for the welcome and pointer.Schooling used to be a fuss-free affairs but now it is causing stress amongst parents. I didn’t have to go through this with my 1st born. But because I sold my place now I am about to go mad because of finding an affordable home vs finding a good school.You are our salvation in this deep maze of education system. Thank you.
