For info, there are many SC/PR returnees and service sector workers from other parts of China in Singapore between mid-Jan till CNY. They were gallivanting around and dining with us locals, and not on LOA throughout the festive season hor. I have already come into casual contact for less than 30 min with quite a no of them in CBD restaurants and hotels without wearing a mask. The closest (less than 2m) was probably with a Chinese waitress who was trying to promote some items on the Special CNY set menu. After 5 min, I realised she was too close for comfort and so I told her 没事,我们自己看菜单!so she disappeared.
Anyway, many of them are well--I hope, after reading about the Malaysian fella who was at Grand Hyatt from 16-23 Jan.
I am more taken aback by his interview with channel 8, “it’s ok cos they don’t look sick”. He isn’t aware of the asymptomatic and yet possibly infectious nature of the virus?

During global shortage, it makes sense to prioritise healthcare workers and the vulnerable.
That is however different from saying that healthy individuals will not benefit from wearing a mask in this situation, especially when asymptomatic transmission is possible and there is enough information on the modes of transmission to know that masks offer one more layer of protection.
It would have been better to call a spade a spade, and tell the healthy majority to be extra vigilant in hygiene and practice social distancing where possible. But since it is not possible in the MRT trains and buses, I guess they decided to not open themselves up for barbs thrown their way when they travel in private cars. -

Let me try to help:)
Hi Parents!
My child had just been transferred to the school and will be P4 for 2020. May I know if there is a Parent's Whatsapp group that I can join?
Hope to be able to contribute to the group moving forward!
Probably no chat group yet..coz the allocation of class for p4 should not be out yet..usu ard 1st or 2nd week of dec then we receive letter from school to inform which class our child is going next year..
P1&2 usu same class..
P3&4 usu same class..
P5&6 usu same class..
But there can be slight movement,so the school
Usually still send letter in dec to inform which class
Your child going for the next year..
Hope this helps:) -

Wow! u are quite good leh..I had grade 7 practical in piano, tried grade 8 but really no time to practise coz in JC already(those days, we do not have the luxury to start so early..i started learning ard p2 or p3..)
Thank u. Good to know. I’m a total newbie to violin exams.
How foolhardy would I be to be the accompanist myself? Any brave parents did that before? Grade 3 should still be manageable I think...cos I have been accompanying him for all his mini-recitals. I am very in-tune with his cues because we have a strong bond already.
I just dunno my own stress level...if I happen to play a wrong note on exam day, will it sabotage his exam results :scared:
I do not dare to be my kids' piano accompanist..too stressful for me
But since you did with him before, what u can do is practise as much as possible, & see whether u have the confidence..
if you really think u cannot, can always ask violin teacher to help to look for 1 for u..usually 1-1.5 months before exam,
coz u need to arrange to practise with the piano accompanist, before exam.. -

My son is taking grade 6 exam, & the piano accompanist(who teaches both piano & violin), is charging us $100 session of 1hr...& on exam day is also $100 :yikes:
Anybody knows what’s the market rate for hiring a piano accompanist for Violin Grade 3? Usually how many sessions of practice do u arrange before the actual exam?
Any general difference in style between male accompanist & female accompanist?
I cannot remember the previous piano accompanist's rate when we were doing lower grades(we were learning under another violin teacher then)...
I would also like to know how others charge..& anyone can recommend piano accompanist who can do for Grade 8??
I need 1 for my girl next year july (I can't imagine how our current one going to charge..I think I better try to ask her when we go for our practice this week :moneyflies: ) -

I think you are confused and mixed up about the education system, if you are depending on your son to fulfill your \"luxe dream.\"Qwerty7\" post_id=\"1946294\" time=\"1573662306\" user_id=\"182163:

My boy just finished PSLE, we received and accepted CO from his dream school. Our DSA chapter is already closed, but I thought I’ll drop by this thread to help other parents and to share our experience.
But I am truly appalled by how acidic some comments can be. Thank God there weren’t such people around in the 2019 thread.
After all, no one really says corny things like \"dream school\" - is that Gan Eng Seng Secondary, dear? - or \"my dsa journey is closed.\"
Sec 1 is the beginning of a long, hard slog of pure meritocracy, depending on brains, luck, connections, money and ability. Then its fighting for good places in Uni, good jobs, overseas postings, good spouses, and a good economy. It's silly really, as if the DSA means you've won.
can't help BUT notice..the above got deleted away AGAIN!!!
(sorry, VERY VERY VERY hard to TUNE myself OUT from what i noticed..)
Congrats to LuxeDREAM!! on your son getting his DREAM school.. :congrats:
which is also \"somebody's\" DREAM school...
& for THAT SOMEBODY, it may JUST remain a DREAM..
I notice LuxeDREAM been very helpful to other parents in the DSA 2019 thread, as i been quietly reading when have time..
Thanks to LuxeDREAM for your kind contribution so far! You are definitely NOT DREAMY!! :rahrah:
(Admire u & Floppy for being so cool..need to learn a lot from u 2!!
Basically,SOMEBODY really 有眼不识泰山!!
真的是不吐不快!)
(OT:Good Luck to ALL getting PSLE results next THUR!!
Having Busy days ahead...logging off...Ciao!!!) -
