All your ideas sound very funny to me. Are all these suggestions from yourself or your teacher. If from your teacher, you should sack her up immediately

P1&2 exams are just so simple and easy, especially for those who have been taught the P1&2 contents again and again by their parents or all kinds of tuition during K1&2 or sometime even earlier.

that is why the marks are so close and "good" pupils are usually to score full mark for almost every subject.

Not a prodigy at all. As I said it is all by training. Actually I don’t know it is effective until child got full marks coz child never did it 100% correct during practice. Maybe we are lucky to have less stricter examiners all the time?

there are some opinions saying the examiners are getting stricter recently, however, I don’t think so, my children have taken exams for consecutively few years, i think the examiners are marking quite consistently, of coz there were cases when bigger mistakes get less marks deducted and there were also cases when tiny mistakes get more marks deducted. Be the examiner a pianist or whatever xxx-ist. But I do feel there are more gentlemen examiners than ladies though there are more little girl examinees than boys:P

my young child scored all full marks for aural, all by training

this child performs quite consistently in all the test items, means she is having a well-balanced music training.

Taking about ABRSM syllabus, it is really not a big issue. As a parent without any music background, I am now able to teach any elements except for practical playing. Purchasing the whole set of syllabus books and reading thru them , that’s all

That is if you are willing to do this, and most parents are not so on or free to learn parallel with their children and assist them at home. Even then, you still need a qualified teacher who is familiar with the syllabus to provide feedback if you are assisting your child correctly.

Being free or not is simply an excuse,
Those with this kind of excuse can expect tr to be so responsible ?
