Not sure if TLL still look at results to offer places? My impression is that the tide has turned, and they are more desperate for students than the other way round nowadays, given the number of Centres they have now.
Some months back, I backside itchy sent my kid to a trial class. TLL regularly run such programme (there is a name for it but I have forgotten) where parents get a course preview while the kids have a trial class.
They still ask for the kid's results but I don't think that is a show stopper. They are merely checking to see if your kid should be placed in an accelerated class. Those scoring high 90s will be offered the accelerated class, so I was told. But who knows, I can't verify that. When asked what if the kid is not scoring as high as 90, the staff said these kids would be placed in other classes where the kids are of similar abilities. If you think about it, this is not really a good assessment or is it? Different schools have different idea on how they should set the papers. How to benchmark?
I won't say TLL is desperate as I believe there is still a demand for their classes. However, I agree with seanwife that with the number of centers they have, it will probably be a constant effort to fill the classes.
As I type this post, I recall a friend's kid who was from LP. The kid wasn't doing well in LP primary 2 programme. Barely scrapped through the tests and compo. He wasn't doing great in school too. The mum took the leap of faith and try out TLL. Two terms into TLL when we last met, the boy was still not showing much improvement.
So the entrance exam is not so strict now? May I know which subjects you took in LP and TLL? Thanks in advance
