Hey, kids bring out the best and worst in us, I can understand your frustrations. There were some findings saying that kids behave the worst when they are with their parents because they have no need to put on a mask with us. Isn’t it the same as us as adults? We tend to be a different person when we are with different people. I remembered once i was so upset with my daughter that i banged my hand so hard on the table the table’s leg broke. That was when I realised the potential of anger I have in me. But strangely my daughter is very well behaved when she is with her tutor. Her tutor even praised her for her well behaviour and she even did better in her studies than when I was teaching her myself. I tend to get really frustrated when trying to convey a very simple theory, but i realised it all because we tend to lose our patience with our kids easily as well. We don’t lose our temper as easily when dealing with other people’s kids. Well, I count my blessings that I found a good tutor for my daughter. Anyone interested just PM me.

It really depends on how much help your child needs, if you realise that your child is not able to catch up in school and is always feeling sad or lost, better get some help. My tutor for my kid is quite good, very patient and nuturing. My daughter is now very confident and can even teach others. But the tutor just moved to sengkang, I’m struggling if i should continue, but my daughter likes her so much i think i might just carry on. My daughter used to be very shy as well. She is in a private tuition group so she has to practise in front to fall her peers, her tutor made them all practise in front of the class so they are conditioned to perform even in front of the class or another teacher in school. This year she scored close to full marks for her oral in chinese and english. Let me know if you like to have her contacts. She just shifted to Sengkang.

I don’t think there is an end to how much we need to have for retirement. If we intend to retire in Singapore, you probably need to have passive incomes. It’s quite scary how money can be inflated over a period of 10 years. 10 years ago, cars only cost $65000. Now it’s double the amount, and even with double the amount, you can only get a miserable 1.5 L car. Sad.

Hi Parents, my daughter is in a private group tuition. Been there since preschool. Teacher is a lady and specialises only in preschool and primary school. So far my daughter has been enjoying herself and transited very well into primary school. Teacher has very limited slot, took me 3 months waiting time to get a slot for my daughter when she was in preschool. PM me if interested.

I used to have small group tuition in my younger years (pri and sec), and I remembered besides learning from my tutor, I had a lot of fun with my classmates as everyone had to unite to solve problems and encourage one another when someone did badly in their school tests or exams. The bondage is good and this in turn had a good effect on my results. In my JC years, my mother got me private tutors, and I remembered having to run back into my room for a while just to roll around in bed for a short break or hide in my toilet longer so I can delay more time. Private tutors on the contrary was boring and more stressful, which did not do good for my results. I had no friends to discuss my problems when I did not know how to solve the question and I was expected to finish all the assignments without any doubts after the tuition classes. Now that I have a child of my own, I did not hesitate to sign her up for group tuition. Now my daughter is in a class with a lady tutor who has her lessons in her SOHO, up to only 6 buddies in the class. She specialises in pre-school and primary school education, with her own unique way of making the children bond with her, thus listening attentively when she teaches. I’ve asked my child whenever she comes back from her classes and she’s always smiling and telling me the fun she had and on top of that the things she learnt. Now that she is in primary school, she is way ahead of her classmates in her English, Maths and Chinese and she tells me the classes in school are too easy. Do take note it is not easy booking this tutor as her timeslots are quite limited as her classes are usually quite fully booked. I had to book her beginning 2 years ago when my child was 5 and only got a reply about 3 months after. She doesn’t start classes until she has enough students as she doesn’t charge a lot for her tuition (compared to the tuition classes in centers). PM me if you want to have her contacts.
