      Hi littlepatrick

Saw you were looking for review on LC @JE. My DD is in Miss Nikki's class. She's a nice lady my DD like her very much.
The class seems to provide nice enviroment for learning and my DD attitude to tuition has changed a bit. Years ago she was the kind that cry alot but of cos now she is in P2 change liao. But Miss Nikki helped her come out her shell.

I dont really know about P4 but P2 program so far so good I will keep DD in the class as long as I see attitude improvement and enjoyment.

      Hope it help! :xedfingers:

    • RE: I Can Read - Discussion

Definitely ICR is a good way to learn to read. I think phonics is very powerful.

Last time my gal at ICR BTP and I oso not so impress with the teacher style. Just coz Ang moh and native teacher, doesnt mean good right?
I feel progress very slow and no comms with me or my hubby about progress. I got tired and started shopping around. Also donโ€™t want to waste my money so worry that ICR was a waste.
LCentral is downstairs, level 1 BTP. My gal is there now. She likes the lesson and I am happy making the switch.

Hi, i'm looking at the marine parade branch. no reviews on that branch. any mummies can help ?

Hi my fren has her son in MP centre. She joined one term ago the same time as I signed my DD up with BT branch. I believe MP was the first LCentral centre and it is a popular one in the east. The feedback from my fren is good so far. Her son is with the young female teacher Paula.

25min to answer your question? I had no idea  what to ask during last assessment. Perhaps in my area, LC is the only one that I know have received positive feedback.... ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Hi hyperkiasu

Think I am more kiasu than you! I had a lot of questions for the teacher who was very patient with me. My concern was for my DD, she is the shy type so we talk alot about personality and my request for feedback. Of course every lesson cannot always speak to teacher but she is very honest and my DD feel comfortable with her.
I did see an improvement in my DD exam results, school teacher feedback is that she has come out of her shell a bit! :celebrate: Teacher at BT did say that perhaps it will take a few terms to see a marked diff in result but so far so good. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

      Hi Monster Mummy.

The assessment is free. And I shop around before choosing LCentral (mostly because I like the teacher) and also because I ask to see the materiels. The centre manager say that they follow the MOE syllabus and this is confirm by the teacher and also I see for myself in the materiels.

Actually when I bring my DD to assessment the teacher at Bukit Timah took 45 mins! About 20 mins with my girl and another 25 answer my question.

Monster Mummy my DD is in the Success (exam skills) program but I read on the website that Foundations and Launchpad cover phonics. Blending and segmenting and sounds in words. Also for the little ones in foundations music and movement and motor skill.

    • RE: Weight loss. How obsessed are you?

      Hi

Anyone can comment on their idea on liposelection/liposuction? I am considering to have to procedure done and my frenz say I am self obsessed! But frankly I lack the confidence I have when I was younger pre-childbirth and my hubby notice it too. Confidence helps at work, socially, in the bedroomโ€ฆ
My hubby said whatever make me happy!

I know some people will think it is a quick fix and also may try to warn me off (I read about the man who died earlier this year!) but I have read some wonderful thing too where it has saved marriages. Hubby and I are not at break up point but I wish I have the confident of my younger days.

Any feedback/personal experiene would help. Positive and Negative.

      Hi All,

Currently I have a training slot for my DD with ICR but it is on a weekday evening 7pm. Therefore really need to look at either ICR or LC for my DD where can settle on a weekend.

I'm considering between LC (Jurong East), LC (Thomson) & LC (Bt Timah). Maybe would need to bring my DD for an assessment then can decide further to take up.

From this thread, it can seem that the Bt Timah is the newest outlet. If anyone have try the foundation stage can share how is it so far? Seem like my DD whether have assessment a not would still be ending up in the foundation stage instead of launchpad.
      Hi titank

Thank you the promotions listed like that is very useful. Actualy when I refer my friend we tot her child will go to Foundations but then when teacher asess, she said Launchpad. So unless your child is very young and knows no phonics then its best to take for asessment, your little angel may surprise you!
Best to check with all the LCentral branches which Foundation/Launchpad class they have avail on weekend. I think if one centre asess then the other will simply take that asessment, you dun have to do another one! Just choose base on timings.

As for ICR, I guess you must do new asessment for that school.

      Hi Trina, st999 and Engkidz

Thanks so much for your info.

I just checked the street directory and found that the BT branch is too far off! I was hoping it is on the other end of BT, nearer my place. I will probably settle for Thomson branch.

I don't think the website has the fees listed though, so can I know how much is the fee? How long is one session by the way?
Happybird the lesson is 90mins once a week.
The weekday rate is $399.85 per term, which is guarenteed 11 lesson.
I can't remember how much the weekend rate is but I think it's about $50 extra per term.

They waived the registration fee for me because I am Popular member. There is a refundable deposit of about $100 if I remember correctly. My dd materials is $15. Check with them when you go in for asessment for other promotion. Also there is a refer a friend promotion now so check with the branch you sign up with (I already refer my friend!).

      Hi

I am also interested in LC too for my K1 son. Just happened to pass by the Thomson branch, was looking at the notices on the door when one of the in charge person came out to talk to me. He is friendly and chattyl, but I do not know anything about the teachers and system there.

Is it mainly a reading program, where kids learn phonics? Do they provide overall english enrichment for older kids?

st999, can share your experience at the LC thomson branch?
      Hi Happybird

Yes my dd is in BT and it is on L1 of Bukit Timah Plaza (right above NTUC). It's the newest centre and it is still building up its classes. There are alot of tuition centre there and LC is downstairs from most of the others...
When I was shopping around I find that ICR and LC very similar and then they tell me that LC was started by ex ICR teachers! So I actualy question the teacher in assessment as I want to know which is best. She said that the program are similar but that there are a quite a few diff and then help to explain them to me.

So I tell u this because like ICR, LC have 2 phonics levels to prepare your little ones for the reading level (Liftoff), but then it have 6 Sucess level which are for Pri school students who can read. They teach exam skills, techniques and all the while encourage interaction in the class.
I think as this company is a franchise, the teaching is the same. My dd's teacher is asessed every 3 month for quality control.

I shop around quite a bit but very happy with my choice ๐Ÿ™‚
