for my 2 kids, think the parents initiated the exchange of emails via the form teacher. from there, parents can choose to also exchange tel no.

these days P1 & 2 very relak one. also, it's not as if they will have to repeat the yr if they fail a couple of spelling or tests. we shd learn not to stress ourselves up....it's just the beginning of a LONG LONG journey!! 😄

perhaps school shd avoid posting answers which are vague…like in this case, how do we define ‘everywhere’? if we can find a somewhere where there’s no fungus, does it mean it’s no longer ‘everywhere’?

      Hi

This link should put to rest any doubts or misconceptions that we have over the question on inverted cup over candle.

Great point, in fact this is the main contributing factor for the water to enter because the change in molecular size is negligible.

think both are probably outside PSLE scope.

I was just thinking that since the candle is really a hydrcarbon and not carbon, then both water and CO2 (and a whole lot of other oxides) will be formed. Therefore the CO2 formed is definitely lesser than the O2 used. But think this is also beyond PSLE.

Thanks to atutor2001 but 1 more question pertaining to ans 2. Imagine an inverted beaker in a basin of water. A candle is burning inside the beaker. After the candle had finished burning, some water from the basin entered the beaker.

My girl's teacher said that water entered the beaker to take up the space of the oxygen that was used up by the burning candle. He also said that little carbon dioxide was produced when the candle was burning.

      Could you please explain? Thanks.
perhaps carbon dioxide is more soluble than oxygen in water

    • RE: All About GEP

I believe most the time when a child is gifted, u can tell at early childhood, maybe 3~6 yrs old. Teachers or caregivers can easily single them out from their peers coz of their ability to learn faster than others. However, it's not all so rosy. Their brain can be so overclocked that sometimes they are seen as ADHD or even autistic. 😄

KKH actually put my son on Ritalin at one stage!!!

      Dharma:
      I think the answer should be Option C (B & C only).

B – The brown gas has no definite shape. It takes up the shape of the jar.
C – The brown gas has no definite volume. It takes up the whole volume of the jar.

Now going to A – It can be compressed.
Although the brown gas can be compressed but the above experiment does not show the fact that air is being compressed. Therefore, I will not choose property A.
I guess it's a matter of whether to include A or not.
My inclusion of A is based on the fact that it has no definite volume (C). Whether its actual volume is bigger or smaller than the jar's volume, it'll still fill the jar. Therefore it can be compressed or expanded according to it container. It'd be intersting to know the given answer.

      Thank you for your help.

Which properties of the brown gas are shown by the above experiment?
      A: It can be compressed.
B: It has no definite shape.
😄 It has no definite volume.

      A.A only
      B.A and B only
      C.B and C only
      D.A, B and C only

anyone knows the answer? B is obvious, and if C is true, then A is true. So answer shd be 'D'.

BTW, why is there a need for 'only' in anwer 'D'?? :?

My boy got this problem. Can someone help me to solve this?

Monkey King had 2000 pears. He gave all the pears to some monkeys. On the first day, the monkeys ate half of the total number of pears. On the second day, they ate 1/3 of the remaining pears. On the third day, they ate 1/4 of the rest of the pears. They went on to eat the pears as 1/5,1/6,1/7,.....,1/2000 of the remainder of every previous day's pears. Find the number of pears left at the end.

Thanks. By the way, please explain clearly because i m a not so smart mum.

      The answer is 4

      1st Remainder\t4/5 x 2000
      2nd Remainder\t4/5 x 5/6 x 2000
      3rd Remainder\t4/5 x 5/6 x 6/7 x 2000

      2nd last Remainder\t 4/5 x 5/6 x 6/7 x .... x 1998/1999 x 2000

      Last Remainder 4/5 x 5/6 x 6/7 x .... x 1998/1999 x 1999/2000 x 2000 = 4

think you missed the 1st 3 days of the pear feast! 😄

    • RE: Thermal pot

      Jennifer:

Hi, Full Cream. Do you hv any feedback for the brand Thermos? OG is having a promo now, I hv not decided to buy or not.

The one that comes with 2 inner pots, do we hv to cook 2 dishes in each pot at the same time or can use only one pot? TIA your advice.
I've no experience in the dual pot ones. But I believe if u r only using one of the pots, then just put boiling water into the the other so that u have more heat trapped inside the thermal container instead of hot air.

another thing is that if u r buying a single pot type, choose one that fit the size of your family coz IIRC, the pot need to be at least 80% filled for it to be effective. Only only started using it more regularly when my kids became older and have bigger appeitite 😄
