• RE: Maid steals $ everyday. What should I do?

Report her to police so that MOM can blacklist her from coming back to Singapore to work.

I strongly do not agree for you to send her back to agent and her country of origin.
Firstly, Maid agency doesn’t care about the well being of a maid, their main intention are to make monies and they are more than happy to transfer her out so that they can earn more agency fee and maid loan. By doing so, you are indirectly causing her next employer to be a victim.
Secondly, if you send her back anytime she can buy an air tix and fly back to Singapore. And once again as I had mentioned you are causing her new employer to be a victim."Kindness beget kindness"

Don’t expect them to change. "Leopard doesn’t change its spots."

• RE: Myanmar maids

Our Myanmar salary is SGD470 with every Sunday off and she only have experience in doing household chores. Start everything from the scratch when she joined us.

In fact, we are over-paying the helper when she got merely 2 years experience in Singapore. Just got to know this recently during CNY Gathering.

Our Cousin employed an Indonesian Maid with 8 Years experience in Singapore paying her also SGD470 with Every Sunday off. Their helper has experience in taking care of baby/children, cooking, household chores…etc. No training required at all.

My colleague employed a Filipino helper (fresh) for SGD400 with every Sunday off and she is a uni. grad.

Employing a helper really depends on luck. This is the first time I employed a Myanmar Helper reason being there are not many Myanmese Helpers in our estate therefore the chances of her yakking with other domestic helpers are very slim. Even with 2 years experience but she remind me of our 1st Indonesian Maid (fresh) whom joined us 8 years ago. Her first 3 mths with us was getting on my nerves ( I admit I’m not a patient person) therefore she had to withstand all my scolding and pressure. Surprisingly, her stress tolerance are very high and fast learner as well. From someone with zero knowledge of cooking to someone who know how to cook chicken curry and Nasi Lemak within 3 mths, I would say it she is a hardworking helper. Frankly speaking, we don’t mind paying her a bit more if she continue to perform well and keep upgrading herself (for long term),

Hi st2,

You may email to [email protected]

st2:
Hi gumiho

It appears that that's the best that MOM can do for now! How little?!?!?!?

I read from your other thread, what a terrible maid you had and she does not feel ashamed at all for the trouble she cause.

They feel they are entitled to lie or steal (as we see it) but it's not a bad thing/big deal to them. They feel that they can justify this behaviour.

They say they lie because they are scared (have to pay for damage or get scolding), like when we discovered they have broken something.

They use our things without asking, knowing that they are not supposed to...when discovered..... they justify it as just borrow only, just try a little bit only, it's not stealing, what is the big deal?

They feel such a sense of achievement, pride and superiority when they think that they have gotton away with all the laziness, lying and the stealing etc. Sometimes we just put up with it because we are tired that day and just tolerate because at the time we still need them.....anyway.... good riddence to bad rubbish your maid!

May I check with you how did you do the feed back?

Did you use the 'Feedback' tab next to the 'Contact Us' tab? If so which category did you use? Thanks!

• RE: Blacklist : Pamela Lontes Esteban (WP No.: 0 25154479)

We had terminated her service on 28 Nov 2013.

I had written a long lists of her mis-behaviour acts which to be presented to her current/future employers. She is a monster in disguise therefore I would urge her current/future employer to contact me immediately before you land yourself in disaster.

Just recently I found out from my daughters that this filipino maid had instigated them to steal from other's property and on weekly basis. This is madness !!

Quoting below a few examples of her misconduct during her employment (4 years service) with us.

1.\tShe will raise her voice at the elderly and children.
2.\tShe does not follow our instruction and only do things her own ways.
3.\tShe will disappear from our home for 2 to 3 hours daily. We have an elderly (mobile) at home whom need to be monitored just in case he fall or fainted in the house therefore disappearing from the house for half a day is unacceptable.
4.\tShe will simply walk away and ignored us when we were talking to her.
5.\tWhen our home was infested with household pests (due to all food particles on the floor and she pretend she cannot see it) and she cannot even be bothered to destroy them. When I reprimanded her she told me off saying that there are also a lot of household pests in her house and they just ignored their presence. How can we compare villages with flats? Aren’t we supposed to keep our home a hygiene place? All these household pests had made my home a filthy and disgusting place to live in. Since our helper cannot even be bother, I have no choice but to do it myself. I sprayed insecticides to all areas where the household pest’s presence and the whole process took around half a year for me to exterminate partial of the household pests.
6.\tWe have a vase with live plants at home which need to change water every day and we did remind her again and again to change the water. One fine day, NEA Officers pay us a visit. Mosquito’s breeds (extremely infectious kind) were found in the vase water and unfortunately it was the period when the number of dengue fever cases had been increasing. We were been fined SGD200.00 and yet we were kind enough not to reprimand Pamela. However, she kept arguing that she had changed the water 2 days ago.
7.\tEvery day, she will lock herself in our kitchen toilet – 6 to 7 times daily for almost 1 hour. Initially we thought she was having diarrhea but she will always tell us whenever she was sick. This pattern had been continuing for one and a half year and our conclusion is she is playing her mobile game. Her mobile phone will always be in her hand from day to night, busy talking and sms-ing her friends.
8. On 06 Oct 2013, she came asking me so sweetly that had I purchased Air Ticket for her departure on 01 Dec 2013 (The date she ends her contract with us) and after I told her “Not Yet” She was smiling so delightedly. Then I ask her what’s wrong and she told me that her current maid agency (in lucky plaza) told her that it would be better if she could leave Singapore to Hong Kong directly due to she might face some difficulties to apply work permit directly from Philippines to Hong Kong. Then I asked who will be paying for her Air Ticket from Singapore to Hong Kong and she told me a new employer in Hong Kong. I jokingly pass the remarks saying that “I can save the monies for the Air Ticket.” and she immediately posted the below personal attack remarks in her Facebook.
Im happy about I heard lol....... but too bad she also happy as she said she don't waste her money too for my airfare if she have a common sense and know about the rule between employee&employer she won't think that she save her money otherwise she will give it to me as a token for service on them but as a stingy creatures never thought of it lol...... its okay.... keep your money and im happy for letting me go......
By reading the few examples above, do you think will you still employ her ?

• RE: Blacklist FDW: Catherine Vizco Padillo WP No: 0 2498035

Recently I lodged a complaints to MOM about our ex-filipino maid and below was their replied.

I find the action taken are too lenient to those mis-conduct maid and no matter what, we, employers will still suffer.
Thank you for your feedback on 27/11/2013 regarding Pamela Lontes Esteban (WP No: 0 25154479).

We are sorry to learn of your unpleasant experience you have had with this worker.

The Ministry will only be able to place a foreign domestic worker on an employment ban if she is charged and found guilty of an offence under the Singapore laws.

If you wish to feedback on her conduct, you need to give us the following information as your consent to release them to her prospective employers/employment agencies (prospective employer’s representative) within 7 days of this email:
Employer’s Name
Employer’s Mobile number and/or Email address
Note: Your contact details will be made known to employment agencies which are authorized by prospective employers to apply for the worker’s Work Permit.

Otherwise, we will treat this matter as closed.

After the Ministry receives the above information, we will:
Inform the prospective employer/employment agency (prospective employer’s representative) that there is a feedback given on the worker he is applying for; and
Release your contact details to the prospective employer/his employment agency to contact you directly if he/his employment agency wishes to find out more.
The prospective employer’s application for the worker will be processed eventually if he decides to employ the worker in spite of the feedback.
• RE: All About Full-Time Maids

If I were you, I will either send her back to her agency or buy ticket to send her home. Nowadays, all filipino maids fear to go home because their government had stringent their regulations which make it hard for domestic helpers to apply to work in overseas. I had employed both Indonesian and Filipino domestic helpers before, I feel that filipino are troublemaker.

Our current filipino helper had been with us for 4 years and leaving us this month end. We have been tolerating with her outrageous acts for these 4 years, we did not send her home due to personal reasons. I personally had wrote her a testimonial which to be presented to her future HK employer however understand complaints from outside the country will receive less attention. Therefore, I had decided to send it to MOM instead.

Friends and colleagues around me are victims of having filipino helpers. Filipiono helpers may seem to be kind and polite in front of you but when they had decided not to work for you, they will start showing their true self and create problems for you. Even our filipino colleagues told me that most of the filipinos are born pretender.

The decision is still up to you. But my advise for you is never trust a filipino helpers, even though they cry and beg you to let them stay. And I will never buy their stories because they have plenty to tell.

Once bitten, twice shy.

I am in a dilemma. :scratchhead:

My current helper (filipino) is a monster in disguise and it is a relieve for us that she is leaving us to Hong Kong at the end of the month. I had wrote a testimonial for her. I will definitely submit a copy to MOM but is hesitating whether to submit it also to HK Immigration ? My intention was to make known to her future employer of her outrageous behaviour and hoping her future employer won't ended up as a victim like us. Do you think this is necessary ?

matrix0405:
Is getting Myn maids cheaper? Their salary is so close to indon/phi, their agent fee is usually higher and their airticket are more expensive.

How do you look for Myn maid? Some agencies don seems to carry them. Have to look for them in a myn-specialist agency?
I am employing a Myanmar maid from the below maid agencies as their charges are much cheaper compare to other agencies. They specialise in Indonesian and Myanmar Maid. Employing maid are all depend on your luck ! 🙏

• RE: Philippine group to stop sending maids to Singapore

MANILA — A group of Philippine international job recruiters this week stopped sending Filipino domestic helpers to Singapore, part of a campaign to end the collection of placement fees from migrant workers.

Such fees, banned by Philippine authorities but still continuing, can add up to the equivalent of eight months of a household worker’s salary.

Reuters
A building being constructed in metro Manila on Aug. 29. While the Philippines is one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, nearly one-tenth of its citizens live and work overseas.“This moratorium will stay until we get the full cooperation of all the local recruiters as well as the employment agencies in Singapore,” Lucy Sermonia, president of the Association of Licensed Recruitment Agencies to Singapore, or ALRAS, told The Wall Street Journal.

There are more than 150 recruitment agencies in the Philippines sending household helpers to Singapore, while some 300 Singapore employment agencies handle Filipino workers.

Regulations of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, or POEA, the government agency that tracks and oversees the deployment of Filipino workers abroad, has prohibited the collection of placement fees from household service workers since 2007. Those fees, including travel and training costs, should be shouldered by employers.

POEA records show that 136,695 Filipino workers traveled to take up employment to Singapore in 2012, with 15,759 of them meant to work as household help.

Ms. Sermonia said they met with their Singapore counterparts in September last year to seek an end of the practice, which has left maids working without getting paid for a long period. The agreement last year was that the practice will end once those in the pipeline are processed, but even after that the collection of fees continued, she said.

“Employers just give household service workers SGD20 as allowance. They aren’t paid for up to eight months,” she said.

K. Jayaprema, president of the Association of Employment Agencies in Singapore, said he wasn’t aware of the Philippine group’s move.

Ms. Sermonia said Filipino household service workers without experience are paid $409 a month, while those with experience get $472. She said placement fees collected from them run to the equivalent of two to eight months of salary and are deducted every month.

The minimum monthly salary of maids in Singapore is six times the $67 minimum salary of household help in Manila.

ALRAS hopes its moratorium will have the positive results as similar action against recruiters deploying household help to Hong Kong.

A moratorium on the deployment of maids to the Chinese territory was declared by the Society of Hong Kong Accredited Recruiters of the Philippines in late January. It was lifted in late March after Hong Kong employers agreed to shoulder the placement fees.

One-tenth of the Philippines’ nearly 100 million citizens live and work overseas, sending home every year billions of dollars to support families. Last year, overseas Filipino workers remittances reached $21.39 billion, underpinning domestic consumption and providing support for the Philippine peso.

The plight of many of the Philippines’ overseas workers includes abuses of migrant workers by Philippine officials. The Philippine Senate is now hearing allegations that several female workers in the Middle East have been abused by Philippine labor officials there. But thousands of Filipinos continue to line up at the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, the state agency that handles migrant workers, every day to find job opportunities abroad.
