      Sunshineday08:
Hi Hopes or anyone, may I know if I want to employ a new maid and was told the maid I selected that her passport will expire in 1 yrs time... Is it still ok to employ? Agency said no prob. to renew her passport next yr? (Work permit valid 2yrs)... Is it true?

      Thanks!
Passport left only 1 year usually is because they are transfer maid.
Did you check the maid employment history the number of employer they had changed before ? You can obtain the Maid Work Permit Number from the Maid Agency and check her employment history at MOM Online.
Previously, I had employed a helper whom had changed 7 employers in less than 2 years and we employed her for around 2 months before we sent her home. The number of stories she made up and the amount of trouble she had created was indescribable.
My advise is think twice before getting a transfer maid. :xedfingers:

If you think the new maid is good and she is the one you are looking for. Well..... you may go ahead to employ her. Passport Renewal Fee is either pay by the helper, employer or 50/50. Check with the employment agency who is responsible for the Passport Renewal Fee, better state it black and white on the agreement so that neither one of you can shrink the responsibility. It is rather troublesome to do it yourself because of the travelling time to embassy and waiting time. If you are a working adult, you may require to take a few days leave. If agency do it for you, they will charge you extra handling fee.

The decision still lies in you whether willing to pay for the extra Passport Renewal Fee after 1 year of employment.

Nowadays, non of the maid agencies can guarantee good quality maids. Low agency fee and maid loan are only the selling tactics, those maid agencies also cannot guarantee good quality helper. We are one of the victims. In the end, we have to resort to direct hire. Well..... we does have our hiccups too in direct hire however we are still satisfy with our current helper. No matter what, it still depend on our luck in hiring a helper. :xedfingers:

If you are willing to take the risk, Direct Hire will cost less than SGD600.

      http://www.welstand.com.sg/print-maid.php?id=96217

Out of goodwill, we give her the benefit of doubt and employed her despite the fact that she had changed 7 employers within 2 years and we (hopefully) are her last employer in Singapore.
Surprisingly, shouldn't MOM ban those domestic helper who had changed more than 3 employers per year ? Isn't the maid levy we had paid are for maintaining the quality of domestic helper ?

MAY ZIN AUNG is neither a pleasant nor hardworking person. Always finding easy way out. Quick-witted I would say, she can always find all sort of reason to support the mistake she had done. We understand they are from rural area and uneducated therefore we had always been very forgiving with them, we never blame them for the damage they had done (eg. broke the sword of \"Guan Yu\"....etc.) Unfortunately, she repay us with all her lies and bad attitude.
On her 3rd day of work with us, she came crying to us saying her father had passed on and wishes to return back to her hometown. Her agent stopped her, claiming that since she knew that her father was badly ill then why she still came to work in Singapore. After that she continue her employment with us for around 2 months then she came crying to us again saying her mother had admitted hospital and insisted in returning back to her hometown. Coincidentally, both incidents occur on a sunny Sunday afternoon and on her off day. We informed her agent and she rushed down to our place to clarify with MAY ZIN AUNG. According to the agent, all along she was lying because MAY ZIN AUNG do not want to repay the money (Est. S$1600) that she owed her agent. Her agent pleaded her to work for us for another 1 month so as to replay her loan but MAY ZIN AUNG refused. The agent threatened to send her to police station, surprisingly MAY ZIN AUNG was fearless and even threatened back the agent that if they insisted her to continue her employment with us she will just sit in our house and do NOTHING. We have 2 young children (9 & 5 years old), we cannot take the risk of her harming our children. I requested the agent to bring her back and purchased air ticket to send her back to her hometown.

During her stay with us, she was not a co-operative person. She do not follow our instruction, do everything her own way. Whenever we corrected her mistake she will talked back to us. Told her that our youngest one has eczema and has to bath twice a day than must apply moisturizer. Whenever my child asked her to help to shower she will claimed that she was extremely busy. According to my children she was always busy washing toilet or stay in the toilet most of the time. Our instruction was to wash the toilet only once a week. When I questioned her why didn't bath and apply moisturizer for the kids her answer to me will be,\" I had forgotton !\" After her departure and I had to take over the household chores then I discovered the mop was super filthy. The moment you dip the mop into clear clean water, the water immediately turn black. It took me 2 days to bleach and wash the mop. Every night busy messaging or playing her mobile phone then in the morning couldn't wake up, yet she still has the cheek to complain to us that every morning she has to wake up early. We, employer, woke up the same time (6am) as her yet always the last to sleep and she was behaving like a boss in our house.

My in laws loved their recently ex maid as she cooked really well ( sold food in Myanmar) spoke Chinese. We all pray she return soon.

A lot of ex St Myanmar maids prefer elderly care, not sure why.
Even my current maid who love my baby, originally requested for elderly care, agent refused because she is good with children. Lol
Bad luck for her but good luck for me.

Thanks for sharing... I really had no idea that so many positive experience with Myanmar maids.. OK, definitely keep that in mind. For now, have to keep worrying and hope my maid behave herself... (I check her FB occasionally and found she making new guy friends here and so far she has been out like 4 times?

Be prepared for the maid changing her working attitude once she was attached with a bf.

      Angelique:
1st maid fresh Fillipina but ex UAE, clean and efficient but demanding.

Always spoke of HOME and rights of the maid. This is when I gave her 2 off days even though she is paying off loan.
Gave her so many loans, presents I forget... She left after contract finished.
2nd maid transfer filipina declared she can't manage work when she only been in my house 3hrs and didn't do anything. I had my 1st maid waiting to be transferred and my Amah's maid at home too..
My house is not 3storey, only 4 ppl!
She left after bf problem and endless talk of giving fat Angpow.
3rd maid for Amah ( myanmar ex sg)was lazy, didn't want to work. Left after 1 month.
Now my current maid who started off slow ( ex sg myanmar) love my baby and that's all I really want.
She try to squeeze in house work when time permits.
I have so many bad experience with filipina maids, I really don't want to hire them any more. Fresh, ex SG, transfer all same.
Filipina maids are friendly so friendly after few off days half of Singapore maids are friends with your new fresh maid.
Will say \" my Aunty, my cousin\" but really related ? Nooo..

For a piece of mind I would stick with ex SG myanmar maids..
:goodpost: :goodpost: :goodpost: Totally agree !!

It all depend on the employer.

Either you make the decision or discuss with your helper.
Gov regulation is the maid to be home by 2359hrs.

    • RE: Theresa Beauty

Purchased from Groupon one session of the Full Body Massage.

Had made an appointment with them on a weekday since they keep claiming that weekend appointment are full.
So sudden that I am down with fever and cannot make it for the appointment. I called them 1/2 hrs before the appointment to make change. I told them to postpone the appointment for me and they asked me for the reason, I told them I’m down with fever and ridiculously the branch manager response," Down with fever still can come down for massage since the massage can help to recuperate your body." I was super furious after I heard the replied and shouted at the manager," Hey! Can you please understand that my whole body are in pain now?! " In the end, the manager unwillingly postpone my appointment still insisting all weekends are full and keep repeating to me that actually I am not suppose to make cancellation but this time round they make it exception for me. This is super irritating! I didn’t purposely make myself fall sick and in the end I was been reprimanded for not going down for my appointment. I asked her their weekend schedule are full until which month and yet she cannot answer me. I had no choice but to took a date/time which is not to my favour.

Anyhow, I have yet to go down for the massage. Shall update this post again after my visit there.
