My son is with HG now in N2. We are also a predominantly english-speaking family and we enrolled him in this school for the sole reason that the school teaches 100% chinese at nursery levels. Although the Principal is new and looks rather inexperienced (if I may say so), she was very hands-on with the kids and the teachers. I saw her carrying the crying kids and even feeding the children, instead of being seated at the cushy office during the school hours. She seems helpful and earnest and I like her. School also seems fun and my son has been enjoying school. A good variety of food is served at snack-time like macaroni, sandwiches and chee cheong fun.

Dear P1 parents,

Is it just me or is the workload of P1 students slightly overwhelming?

My daughter can come home with 10 pgs of maths homework and Chinese writing on a single night. And so far she’s been having homework daily since the start of school.

We stay very near the school and already by the time she settles down to do her work will be 8ish and its usually close to 10pm when she finishes, she also looks extremely burned out by then.

Is this the norm?
UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor, the antibacterial factor in Active Manuka Honey that is responsible for naturally destroying bacteria such as staph (staph aureus), strep (streptococcus) and H. Pylori (Helicobacter Pylori). Only Active Manuka Honey contains UMF®. That makes Active Manuka Honey the only honey shown to kill H. Pylori.

The UMF is like antibacterials.

it is not advisable for young kids to take is bcos they are building up their immune- system.

Multivit that contains Omega 3 and 6, Bcomplex and Vit C would be better options.

Omega 3 and 6 is for brain development
Bcomplex is for energy release
Vit C is for immunity and antioxidants.

Hope this helps.

It is unsuitable for young kids? I thought most parents here are giving manuka to their kids?

Hi all,
Can I check how young is young children in this context?
I have been giving my 4 yr old manuka honey since he turn 3.
Oh dear, hope it's not damaging to him!
I checked with a very experienced PD about giving Manuka honey to my 2 and 6 year old. He said \"that's ok. It's good for them\".

• RE: S'poreans to get priority for P1 places during balloting

Why should the PRs stand a chance when even we poor Singaporeans have to fight so hard to get a place in our own local schools? Like a few mentioned here, locals have little choice we cannot afford International Schools, we cannot afford to suka suka buy a property just to get a shot at balloting. Surely we citizens deserve to have some priority and privilege by being Singaporeans?

Last year we had our very own balloting experience where 20% of the applicants were PRs. It didnt matter they hv 1 slip and we hv 2, all our names were put into the SAME box. Technically we hv no priority over them. Which was so sad because many of the rich PRs took up the v limited seats of our local school!

And one of our neighbours even commented, our area is VERY popular with the people back hm because they want to send their kids to this school! And they hv no qualms about paying 400k for a 3room flat here. What about the poor newly married couples who wish to set up a home here? They can never afford!

phtthp:
under 2C > 2km -

many SCs from all over SG (North, South, East, West) directions will fight for a chance enter Tao Nan, via balloting.

if is meant to be yours, is yours.
For last year Tao Nan phase 2C, there were more SC applicants <1km than available places. So I don't think we will see a situation whereby applicants from all over Singapore try to ballot for a place in TNS. I believe it's the same for all the \"hot\" schs in Singapore?
