radiantmum:Thx Radiantmum, has PM U.Hi Busymom, on FSS test
Hi Honeystar,
For Yamaha Junior Course, kids are only required to make a choice from electone or piano after Yr 4/JXC. Typically parents are not certain about the sustainability of kids' interest so most would want to buy a reasonable keyboard first (cheaper) before they make the heavier financial commitment. Check out the other threads on piano selection - they have more info / advice from other parents.
2nd hand CD/DVD/materials - I still have mine (all in excellent condition) and if you want to PM me to make a reasonable offer I can perhaps let go

RE: *** READ ME FIRST !!! - P1 Registration FAQ ***
Thanks Twin.
So it doesn't mean we've to register in the same school under 2C if unsuccessful in 2B? We can \"give up\" this school and register in another school under 2C?
Reason being my friend qualify for 2B (church member) but is outside the 2 km. According to the stats, 2km needs to ballot. Hence if she is unsucessful after ballot, can she still register in another school under 2C which they are staying within 1km? :? -

ChiefKiasu:
Question: If I'm unsuccessful in securing a place in Phase 2B, can I try/register for another school under Phase 2C instead?STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS
9. If you are unsuccessful in an earlier Phase (eg. Phase 2B) in securing a place for your child, you are allowed to try again for the same school at a later Phase (eg. Phase 2C). However, you need to re-register your child in the later Phase (it is NOT automatic), and you will be treated with the same status as all other applicants in that Phase. -
RE: All About Parent Volunteers (PV)
Hi rradhika,
I’m also looking at Tampines. Am very sure St Hildas’ is out, coz I’m staying outside the 1km, even if PVed still require to ballot. Am hoping for Poi Ching, which is very near where I’m staying. -
RE: All About Parent Volunteers (PV)
PVed 2 schs ?! Wow very time-consuming… Somemore I’m a wkg mum. My hubby said not to apply PV for the sch that is outside 1km, coz since it requires balloting even in 2B. Then we are only left with 1 choice… He only provides moral support (ie. talk only) but wants me to be volunteer ! :x Jz hve to monitor the take-up rate for this year.
The thots of having to go thru the selection/interview for PV really makes me cold sweat, jz like job interview. But for the sake of our "next generation", what to do… -

is it better to send more than 1 school? Or juz concentrate on one? I've 2 schs in mind: one is w/i 2km, and requires balloting even in 2B (hot sch). 2nd sch is w/i 1km, if i not accepted for PV, at least I stand a chance to ballot in 2C (but risky leh). So is it better to juz \"focus\" on the 2nd sch? Pai sey, trying to pass my problem to others  At least the 1st sch has the courtesy to reply my email!honeystar,
i had emailed 2 different schools for pv and also no replies. best to give them a call cos probably they are concentrating on the 2004 kids pv enquiries at this moment. for 2005 kid, most schools will start pv next year. -

Thank you for the info. I email the school to enquire about their PV, but no reply after 2 follw-up emails. Guess their mailbox must be flooded with queries for PV. Do you know when the registration usually starts? My gal born in year 2005, hence has to start PV by next year (i think)Hi honeystar?
What about a reading programme? I am a FTWM and I do a reading prg at a school twice a week for about 30 mins each time. It takes some time to finish the 40 hours, but in between you can take 1/2 day or holiday (take CCL got 6 this year onwards) and clock in some hours which makes a big difference to the final 40 hrs.
Hope this helps...honeystar:
can anybody share with me what is usually expected for a PV? I'm a wkg mum, and dun hv a unique skills set, hw ah? what type of services can I volunteer for?

RE: [Changi/Pasir Ris/Tampines/Simei] Preschools
Can't offer you any good advice, but you may want to check out this webite
http://www.tampineszone.com/ES-childcare.htm
It shows all the childcare in tampines, you may then filter and do the shortlisting. Hope it helps.
My gal was formerly in Learning Vision @ Temasek Poly. However their premises was taken over by Cherie Hearts, hence shifted to Changi Business Park. -
