Laya:
i mean past psle performances, top scores, no of students scored above250/260.....

CHIJ Kellock seems to have better PSLE results (plus affliation to CHIJ St Teresa). The following data are from public sources.
Year / % A-A* for EL/MA/SC/CL / Reported Mean PSLE

CHIJ Kellock
2009 69.4% 56.5% 50.5% 84.4% 216.4
2008 71.8% 57.1% 51.5% 83.1% 220.2
2007 67.7% 60.2% 47.8% 80.6% 217.5

Radin Mas
2010 58.4% 46.1% 50.9% 81.2% 202.2

A very important comment on the reported mean psle scores. CHIJ Kellock is likely to have reported for those taking 4Standard subjects (ie no foundation students) whilst Radin Mas is for all students. The difference between the 2 methods is big for most average schools (small for very top schools since few students take foundation subjects).

One would have thought that the national average t-score is 200 but from various school slides, the national average for 4S students is about 207 and that for All (including foundation) is perhaps 195-198 range. but many schools report \"average\" of 4S scores. The other implication of a national average below 200 is that should avoid taking foundation subjects if one can help it (ie must at least be able to pass all subjects).

My estimate based on 2009 Kellock % and 2010 Radin Mas % is that the Kellock is only better by 7 points.

This is excruciating šŸ˜ž

For sake of ACJS we are really cracking our heads!

I have 2 children- an older daughter and a son. We are really caught in the middle. Being within 1 KM of MGS and are members of the Methodist church, getting my daughter to MGS should not be of a problem.. but it is my son who will be going into Primary 1 that will be a headache

What would mummies and daddies here do?
Agree with citygirl's advice. MGS for you is more certain since 1km at Phase 2B has high chance of acceptance and is better since it has affliation all the way to JC (ACJC). MGS has excellent PSLE results (I believe it was significantly better than RGPS for 2010).

After getting DD into MGS, you could consider moving next to ACSJunior (one at Winstedt Rd, not at Barker Rd). Based on the published 2009/2010 PSLE results, I estimate ACSJunior and ACSPrimary (at Barker Rd) to have about the same mean T-scores for 2009, and ACSJ about 4 pts better for 2010. This despite ACSP being the school with GEP classes. If your DS is offered the GEP, can always move to ACSP.

It is harder to get into ACSP than ACSJ because long ago when the fathers were studying there were about 10 classes (450?) at ACSP and only 4 classes (180?) at ACSJ. From kiasuparents, 2011 P1 intakes are 240 for ACSP and 270 for ACSJ.

Hi guys, just to remind you that the T score for acs independent last year was 251 for the integrated programme! šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

251 gets into ACSI. IP is 255. But getting into ACSI at S1 gives exclusive chance to try to get in at S3. There are a few more IB classes at S3. Dont remember what that number is. Found it on the web.

RGPS has 44 4A* 66 3A*, can't remember the totally percentage for express . Anyway the mean T-score is 231.4 vs 234 last year. Yeah cannot compare to NYPS which has a bigger cohort. Anyway, they have only 3 GEP classes and majority of cohort top scorers are from the GEP classes.

Thanks for data point. Do you happen to have the percent of A/A* per subject? Saw a ppt with target of 80,80, 72 , 93 for this year PSLE. 231 is a touch lower than target.

pixiedust:
I would appreciate if anyone can illustrate, based on 2010's scenario: Can a child with 4 As get a t-score of 213 ?
A student with borderline 4 As has a score of 196 if one uses a normal distribution to approximate each subject.

Anyone knows RGPS quality passes this year?

Seems to me that Nanyang migth have highest mean Tscore in the nation.
Estimate about 244.5 this year and 241 last yr based on info on this site.

I have a T score of 254 (+1)

Will I have a chance to get into DHS, considering I have a GE status and that the COPs would be lower this year?

PS: I have EESIS.
I think it's the GEP scholarship not EESIS.

My daughter got 260 for psle and merit for higher chinese language, so should she put nanyang as her first choice or RGS as the first choice.

Think she can get into both. So follow your heart.

Kiasu Friend:

Thanks for your quick reply. I have one more doubt.

One of my friends told me that -- in the S-1 school selection Form given under the Centralised Posting Exercise, there is no way to indicate that \"we want to be considered only for the IP program of ACS(I)\". Is that true?

He also said that since it is the \"discretion\" of ACS-I to allow a student to IP program or 'O' level express stream, there is always a danger that one may get a seat in ACS(I) but not be in the IP program in spite of scoring a good aggregate, since the CoP for the IP program is not transperantly mentioned!

I am quite confused on this. How to ensure that the boy with 258 does not end up in the 'O-level stream' at ACS (I)?

I am perhaps not clear in my understanding of the process. Please clarify.

Thank you very much.
Past (09-07) IB COP were 255, 257, 257 ; Past EESIS 261, 263, 264.
Altho cant specify IB only in S1, your chances of IB are high as this year's EESIS is 260. On the off chance get into O level track, can still do well in S2 exam, they have another intake at S3 limited to mainly ACSI students.

jtoh:
But EESIS COP for 2008 was 263 whereas in 2010 it's down to 260. Therefore the performance of students in 2010 is weaker in 2010 than 2008. Hence, I would expect COP of RGS this year to be about 259 and not in the region of 265.

I agree with your RGS COP estimate, maybe it might be 260, but certainly not 265. EESIS is the best indicator of the top COPs. I think in 2007, RGS COP was 266 vs 264 EESIS.
Any 259 out there got EESIS this year?

Last year, EESIS was 261.

Heard from some source that this year EESIS is 258. This is from some schools teacher.

Know of someone with 259 but not offered EESIS. however, for GEP students, lower also can get!
260 EESIS from MOE hotline.
