Hi.. could someone pls help with this problem:

The figure below has 2 identical semicircles and 2 identical quadrants.
The radius of each semicircle is 28 cm. Find the area of the shaded part.
      Take pi = 22/7

There is a similar question in NanHua primary 2012 prelim paper except that the question doesn't tell you that Area B is twice of area A. Is the solution still the same? On what basis do you conclude that area B is twice if area A if it's not given in the question?

Am going to vote later....... Vote for party or the candidate ?

Half a term left before the next GE, I don't mind giving a chance for an alternative party/ candidate to proof themselves, but I also want to vote for the alternative party which has a higher chance of winning. Just my take.

I am not PE resident. But if I am, I would vote in the same manner as you, as I know PAP will come back and woo us with more goodies and promises in 3 years time!

    • RE: Government, what you really want us to do?

Just add on: now, the MOE is blaming parents for being Kiasu to load the kids with tuition when school alone should suffice. But I think another worry on working mother’s mind (i would if I am working) is "how to occupy the kids in the afternoon, when both parents are working and ate not there to supervise afternoon activities of the kids? So must as well go for tuition." if the government can make school hours like international school’s, start at a more earthly hour and end later in the afternoon, this may relief some working mothers of that worry.

I’ve tried yun nam n hair tonic but not effective for me. I started using Regaine 5 months back and my hair is signicantly thicker now. I notice that my hair loss during washing has reduced drastically and also notice hair growth along my hair line. Friends n relatives have also commented that my hair seema thicker now. You can give it a try to see if it works for you.

    • Creative Writing - Situational Writing

Hi, my son is in P4 and will be given choice of either picture or situational writing during the composition exam. His teacher gives the impression that situational writing should be discouraged as there is a higher tendency for the child to write out-of-point. My son is keen to try situation writing. Can anyone share if there are any pointers or principles to ensure that the composition does not go out-of-point? Thanks in advance.

    • RE: Q&A - P3 Math

      Dear Tianzhu and all

Greatly appreciate input to the following P4 math questions:-

      (1) Malek and Wahab had 525 marbles. 1/6 of Malek’s marbles and 4/11 of Wahab’s marbles were blue in colour. The rest were red in colour. If they had equal number of blue marbles, how many red marbles did Wahab have?

      (2) Mr Chen celebrates his birthday today. 12 years ago, he was thrice as old as his daughter, and his wife was 24 years older than her daughter. If his wife is 51 years old this year, how old was Mr Chen last year? Is the answer 57 or 56 years old?

      Thanks.

    • RE: Q&A - P3 Science

Thanks for sharing. "Depend" and "Non-living" are also my guess. Just that, "non-living" does not relate very well to the first part of the sentence, thought it may not be the right answer.
