Are you within 1km from JPS? Ballot for dragon babies in Y2018 for SC btw 1-2km. Since you have a SG50 baby, you might face the same competition. A lot also considering Fuhua as alternative.
BVPS and YPS is relatively safe until P2Cs.️

Thank you!
Our kids liked Sensoji in Toyko and feeding the monkeys in Arashiyama ( Kyoto) and the seer in Nara Park. Both the last two locations also have a nice small town, some countryside, and a temple or two you can see so plenty of variety. Make sure you try local food; seasonally flavoured kit-kats, noodle bars where the locals eat, ice cream ( can be match tea or light peach - again a range of flavours) and travel on public transport. My son also liked Nijo castle in Kyoto.hb\" post_id=\"1925221\" time=\"1564632514\" user_id=\"179788:
Does anyone have any recommendations for Tokyo and Kyoto with kids (4 and 1.5)? Maybe in November?? We haven't been to Japan for a long time, and the kids haven't been there ever. The 4-year-old is not a bad traveller but a picky eater; the 1-year-old is a typical 1-year-old. Thank you!

Very tricky indeed. All the best !
Heh thanks. The 2A school will add like 40 min to my morning commute if not more...maybe I don't love my kid enough for that. (Joking lah.)
I'm also within 1km of a popular school that ballots for SC <1km. The way I'm thinking about it is, do I like the 2C alternative better than the 2CS back-up and by how much? If same same, then might as well ballot for the popular school and see how. If the 2C alternative is much better plus has no ballot, then go for that instead.hb\" post_id=\"1923868\" time=\"1564409282\" user_id=\"179788:
The school within 1km is quite popular so should I just give up and go to a school within 1-2km but then not sure which school is considered good for that. Can’t imagine is so stress in finding a pri sch for the kids
(In my case, I much prefer the 2C alternative but it's a girls' school, and I have a younger son. We're also lucky enough to have a 2A option but it's 14 km away with bad peak hour traffic, so I dunno.) -

RE: Are you ok for your child to go to his friend's place for homework/projects?

I never thought of that! It doesn't get easier does it.
Nebbermind> main concern of the hub is the kids may play online games / surf inappropriate content / up to something 'secretive' while cooped up with friend's place. When they visited their classmate's place previously, I noticed their doors are always locked when I reached and I have to knock to tell them I'm there to pick them up! I'm quite surprised most parents do not mind their kids & their friends stay in their rooms with doors locked on such occasions.. When my kids' friends came over, I make sure to tell them to leave the room door open or at least ajar...
hb> Other than the main concern as i stated above, if an accident breaks out, eg. fire, the helper/grandparents whom the kid or myself do not know are not obliged or may not be familiar with rendering help to my kid, and also the issue of sexual harrassment which I shall not elaborate here.. I am like you, with no concerns previously, but like what some forummers say it's better safe than sorry..
Thanks for all your valuable input! I guess in this hightech world parents need to put in so much more effort in child's safety. Being a parent is so tough these days... sometimes i wonder if i'm thinking too much ;( -
RE: Which is better, same-sex or mixed school?
floppy\" post_id=\"1922616\" time=\"1564040838\" user_id=\"97579:
I'm told that the advantage of single-sex schools for girls is that they are not socialised into being nice in the classroom/project group etc, and in particular don't feel any social pressure to led the boys take the lead/feel that it's perfectly fine for boys to take the lead. But perhaps this is outdated or just not true? (For what it's worth, I went to a single-sex secondary school and really liked it.)
These issues, are they real? Yes.zac's mum\" post_id=\"1922609\" time=\"1564039687\" user_id=\"53606:
What I mean by “distractions” is within the classroom, when answering teacher’s questions, having group discussions, project work etc...some people tell me that in mixed schools, the kids are doubly conscious of how they answer, who is impressed/not impressed with their answer, whoever they like is paying more attention to a love rival in the group project and so on...
Versus if they don’t even have to worry/bother about such issues, they can more freely be themselves and voice their real opinion, can better focus & contribute to the team project etc.
Are they prevalent? Hmm...
The not-so-politically-correct way of putting it would be this, these distractions are not a single-gender or mixed school issues, it's a 'good' vs 'not-so-good' students' issues. Take the better mixed schools, NJC / DHS / RVHS, these are rarely flagged concerns. On the other hand... choose another mixed school further down the line.
