Other than loved ones, they won’t know what to give.
It’s nice to buy ourselves a gift to feel good….definitely won’t go wrong since we know what we want.
I did just that last week by buying myself a watch.

I always get braised tau pok or braised peanuts as a dish every week :slapshead:
We have gotten Dao Pok (dried beancurd skin) as a dish before. !!??!! I think these days, as long as food is delivered on time, just let it go….
Potato cooked in ketchup is really hard to accept. -

RE: ME TIME!
Hi everyone,
How are you?
It’s been awhile since I logged in.
Daughter turned 18 yesterday. But I don’t think she will give me less stress either. -
RE: ME TIME!
It’s that time of the year again…year end exam stress.
After nov, many students will disappear. All the best to your kids’ exams. -

I do feel for those kids who have been traumatized by their parents. They need love and care but do not get it.
I know several families with adopted kids, and 1 family which has fostered several kids over the years, and ended up adopting 2 of them (to add to their 4 kids!). All I can say is that some people really have compassionate hearts, and I am full of respect for them. I don't think I could cope with fostered/adopted kids, especially as they tend to be traumatised and needy, or have special needs.
As for seeking out biological parents - I see nothing bad about that. If the relationship between child and adoptive parents is strong, adding another set of parents won't affect the relationship adversely in the long run.
I fully respect couples who adopt kids. It’s really not easy to reach out to them and gain the trust. -

What I am referring to are the kids whose parents put them up for adoption.
What is wrong when the kids want to find their biological mother? :?
I am a step mother, my step son sometimes stay with me and DH and sometimes stay with his own biological mother and step father. Should I stop showing my love on him?
-

I buy top loading bcos it’s cheaper than front loading. The downside of top loading machine is can’t stack dryer on top. Service yard in BTO is small. If it’s a wet season, I have to use the dryer.
Oh really arh? OK I monitor the next time we do the washing. BTW... which is better, a top-loading or front-loading washing machine? -

Laundry capsules are actually concentrated liquid detergent with softener. I haven’t used powder detergent for a long time bcos it still gets wet no matter how careful I am. Capsules will dissolve in the water. If I have a full load, I use 2.
what are these capsules made of? Concentrated laundry detergent? Why do you prefer capsules over liquid or powder laundry detergent? The clothes after washed would be cleaner? Thank you. -

Same for me. No more than 30 cents for each capsule. Need to store in a cool place or it will melt. I have used softener for a long time. More importantly is to kill germs.
It's about 30 cents per capsule for me if i buy in bulk. No need to mess about with softener and detergents. No need to pour from big bottles. Much neater storage etc. So i am a capsule convert lol -

It’s convenient but hands must be dry when taking the capsules. But I do calculate the price of each before buying. I alternate between capsule and liquid.
I m using the laundry capsules now too..haven't finished first tub. I m planning to get another when see offer online. Find it cute and also convenient -

Yup….son took the poly path.
Janet, can I check with you..if I remember correctly, ds went through Poly route right? How's his opinion on it .. do you all find it difficult to get the qualifying grades at poly and later on any major roadblocks when applying to Uni?
GPA needs to be consistent around 3.6. As he took engineering, he can go straight into 2nd year in NTU and also NUS. -
RE: Child adoption
I saw this pop up counter at Clementi mall sometime back regarding child adoption.
It’s really not easy to adopt a child. Even with the same amount of love showered on the child like own child, will he/she want to find biological parents one day? I remember when my kids were much younger and gave me problems, it was hard to handle. When my daughter was rebellious at 15/16, it was so stressful. But then they are my kids. -

I haven’t made soup for a long time…it’s so costly to prepare one. Used to make bak kut teh, ABC, old melon and corn soup when kids were young. It’s all in with meat, veg and soup. Now I like something lighter like ikan bilis with hairy melon and salted egg.
Do you all boil chicken soup less frequently nowadays? This morning , I was at NTUC and the pre-packed chicken parts don’t look appetizing.
I really miss my white fungus chicken soup, winter melon chicken soup and especially chicken herbal soup. Am getting sick of pork ribs based soup. I also notice that the fresh Huai San and lotus roots don’t look fresh, maybe fewer people buying so the turnover not there -
RE: mooncakes
Ate 3/4 snow skin da zhong kok last night. Simply yummy although I’m not a person with sweet tooth.
There are whole macadamia nuts in the mooncake. It’s definitely not helping when I’m trying to cut down  -

everyday I pray for vitamin D for my laundry.
How can we cope with high inflation or rising living cost of living?
It is quite sad to think about such stuff.
Well, today's weather looks nice and my laundry is enjoying the sun tan
costs of living is crazy...either price increases or amount is decreased...worse if price increase AND amount drops.
