RE: All About Full-Time Maids
cher_06,
I was in a smiliar situation a few years ago. My dad (a widower) wanted to send his maid home as she had attitude problem. The maid cried and plead with us and the agent not to send her home and request for a tranfer. At that time, we did thought of transferring her to another family as all she required was someone with a strong personality to watch over her.
But after discussion with my family, we had decided to send her back as we think we should not encourage such attitude and create more problems to her future employer. Just my take. -
RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Great news!!! My helper has agreed to the arrangement. She said her hubby will loan more money from his boss for the time being since I will be giving them the 2nd mth loan after she came back!!! Thanks everyone for your suggestion!!!

RE: Temper Tantrums
I have the same problem with my 20mth gal. She has been throwing temper around for the past few days. Dont want to sit in the car seat, dont want to drink milk, dont want to⦠I am trying to speak to her nicely and ask her to point out/tell us what she wants but she is still too small to understand the concept. She will just cry non-stop and roll on the sofa/floor. Most of the time i gave up and switch on the TV to distract her. Wonder if that is a good method to use.

Oh good idea! never tot of that. Will sound her out tonightWe can always T/T the money back to her home town, right :?
Possible the employer just absorb the handling fee.
When she come back after her home leave, it will be safer to loan her advance $$.
Is not advisable to loan her money to bring back. Cos it happened to my sister's maid. Asked for advance $ for 2 mths loan and din come back.
F.Y.I, she also a good maid :x -
RE: All About Full-Time Maids
Hi DesertWind,
Many thanks for the very helpful suggestions.
According to my helper, she already has the money for the building material. Her brother is in construction line. During her home leave, she will be paying the workers a certain portion of the money and will leave the rest of the money with her brother. As she is the main breadwinner of the family (her husband is also working but not earning as much as her), her family is waiting for her to go back to take care of the financial details.
I dont know if she would be able to build her house in Bintan with those money or not. She said she will shift her family to the new house when ready in order to be near her in SG. Actually i also dont want to cultivate such practices between us but since she spoken to me, I find it hard to reject her. I wont voluntee to send her money. Just in case. -

Ya I was thinking of letting her used up her home leave this year and renew her contract in mar 11. I just want to bring forward her home leave as next year I will be shifting house in Mar. I would require her help to get settled in the new place.
Hi Joanne,Joanne_31:
Sorry. Have been very busy for the last few days.
The contract is due for renewal in Mar 2011. My helper is a good helper and both of us have the intention to renew the contract next year.
Due to my family situation, I would require her to use her home leave entitlement this Oct. According to the contract, she is entitled to 15 days of leave. I have informed her that I can only allow her to go back for 11 days and I will pay her the differences.
My helper has just brought a piece of land in Bintan and she has the intention to build her house on that land upon exiry of the contract. She told me according to her calculation, she will only have enough cash provided she continue working until Mar 2011. The main reason for her home leave apart from visiting her family is to bring home the money and arrange for the workers to start work on that land. Since I am the one who is requesting her to return home earlier, she wont not have enough cash for the workers in Oct. Hence she is requesting for an advance (2 mths).
I am aware that it is dangerous to loan her the advance but since I am the one requesting her to go back before Mar 11, it doesnt seem right for me to turn down her request. Now, I am worried about the consequences.
No worries about it. So does tat means that you actually want her to come back to work for u again after her 11 days of homeleave? Wow! wldnt that b v complicated...
Well, since u mentioned abt her wanting to build a hse in bintan, it may seems tat once tat is completed, she may not come bak at all.. so u may seriously wish to consider n try to c if u can do w/o it..
Hope it helps.
She said she wants to come back work even if her new house is ready as her family needs her income. She wants to provide a good education to her son. -

Hi celtricia, well I am unsure if any one would be able to replace her if my helper decides to remain in her home land. I have never ask her this question before. She has mentioned so many times that she wants to continue working for me until my baby gal is all grown up.
It seems like most of you have mistaken her message? Or issit I have mistaken it. Seems like it is Joanne herself who has family situation and requires the maid to shorten her contract. Not the maid.Joanne_31:
I have a problem with my maid and hopes some one can enlightening me on this issue.
I have a good maid who gets along well with my family. She is supposed to return home after two years contract in Mar 2011. But due to my family situation, I need her to go back this year instead of next year. She asked for salary advance of two months as I am asking her to return home earlier than expected.
She is a good worker and she has a sister in singapore. Do you think I should give her the salary advance?
However, having said that, no matter who is the one tat decides to shorten the contract.. Joanne, it is nvr advisable to give her salary advance.. Unless she is super gd.. u wan to give some 'bonus' i guess a small gesture of SGD100 is good enuff.
Can share more about your maid? Do you think it is possible for someone to take over her?
