I need some advise from some wise mummy & daddy.

My boy have been accepted to my 2nd choice school. It was not easy too as we had to go thru ballot during phrase 2C. I am still very happy as it is also a good school, with affiliation, but 15-20mins with car, and 30-40mins with public bus.

Now I am still pondering if I shld waitlist him in my 1st Choice school which is a popular school and most impt is much nearer to where my kid is staying. We didn't even get a chance to register there as there were already limited sears balloting for P2C >1km.

I did called the school on when I can waitlist but the sch admin said no point doing it as they don't expect parents to pull out. If I insist, I shld only go approach them on end Sept as now they are too busy with all the registrations.

Part of me tell myself to put stay put on my 2nd choice now since has been accepted, despite the distance. I do not want to disrupt my boys routine if he has settle in when school starts, or shld I just try and wait list and see what happens? Anyway, I think chances for popular school is rare

I've received my pink form yesterday with no orientation date. So I called the school for more info. The school said they will send out another letter in a later date to reconfirm the orientation date. They will also want to meet the parents sometime on Oct to fill up some forms. Mostly, Orientation may falls on mid Nov.
Purchasing of books and uniform will also falls around this period.
This is for NAP. Some other schools' date may varies.

In NAP, the number was assigned by birth cert/birthdate. My boy was born on Dec, his ballot number was the last number on the list.


Crazy though, the 1st number that was drawn was No. 1, followed by 2, 3, 4… and the administrator was turning the wheel so … Slowly…

And my boy’s number came out second last! OMG! Nearly missed the train…

Yes! My boy got in thru ballot this morning at NAP.

Wow! So stressful!!!
Our ball was the last 2nd ball to be chosen, and He was also given the last number.
I thought that’s it, when they said last 3 balls left. There are 2 sets of twin in the lot, and one set was chosen. Wow! So much tension in the room.

Yes! This is very stressful for all parents.

Unfortunately, NAP 1-2km is over subscribe by 3 seats!!!
So frustrated, as those last min seats were taken by those TNP rejects They turn up just 10mins before the cut off time at 4:30pm; while we were sitting there sweating out the seconds... So disappointed... Just 3 SEATS and we all have to go ballot next Tues

More stress...

So worry... Need advice on ST Stephen and Ngee Ann Pri.
My first choice is NAP (1-2km) and ST (>1km) as my backup plan.
I am more keen on a co-ed school. That's why I prefer NAP, but now NAP is already over subscribe on the 1st day!

Dilemma:
- shld I stay with NAP for ballot? (1-2km) 92/88 seats - 1st day
- I know I'll get a better chance with SSP (1km), but their Chinese standard is not so promising I heard there will be no P2Cs.

Anyone know the status for Ngee Ann or ST Stephen Pri?

Yes, I ve heard bullies in boys schools are much more rowdier.
BTW, I am rather curious why NAP is not as popular as the other schools in Marine Parade vicinity. They have good academics and I've also heard pleasant reviews too. They are also major in Chinese; like TaoNan, Kongshan etc. Anyone have any idea?

Oh, can we follow our boy into the school on His 1st day? Can we go to his canteen during his lunch time? Do they have a school orientation before the actual school starts?

BTW, can our kids bring food from home instead of buying food from the sch canteen? I'm afraid He may not have enuf time to eat if He Q to buy food. My boy is a slow eater Thanks!

I am a nerve wracking mum staying within 1km from ST Stephen and 1-2km from Ngee Ann Pri. After reading from all the blogs, I realize my boy will be better with NAP, as He is not the tough sort where he will strive in SSP. Tomorrow will be P2C, I am still thinking which sch I shld use for my backup plan, incase can't get in NAP.

I know the next nearest sch will be TKP and Opera Estate, but I am not a big fan with these schools as the reviews were not that great.

I was wondering with 88 seats left for P2C with NAP, what are the odds for 1-2km?
I guess every schools have their Pros & Cons. I read that NAP have long hours and they have also not so great teachers, and of course some sch bullies here and there. As a mother is worrying as my boy is rather on a shy side & he is also rather small in size

BTW, anyone know if compare to Temasek Pri and Ngee Ann Pri, besides academics, in general... Which school is better?
