Somehow this post triggers me to check further on JR pass, hmm it seems to be bo hua to get the JR pass since I will only travel on the Shinakasen once. Does anyone know the Suica can be used in Osaka?
And if not does anyone knows where I can get Icoca? Is it from JR station and whether can be used on Limited Express from Airport to Shin-Osaka. As I can't find the info from the web.
Thanks much

The JR pass comes in 7 or 14 or 21 days. This pass is excellent for extensive travelling on JR trains.June:
Thanks Starlight. We will get the JR 7 days pass but i will be there for 10 days thus do you know whether they do seel a day or 2 pass? I am staying at JR Shinagawa

You may plan your journey in such a way that you dont use your JR pass for travelling in Tokyo. I think for the travelling in this city, there is another type of pass.

Hi mamemo, Yes Grand Prince offers Disney shuttle bus however only meant for guest. And Hotel Pacific is closing their Operations with effect from Sep, I was considering that hotel as it was very convenience to the train station.
mamemo:
Hi June,
you can check out this website: http://www.hyperdia.com
It's a trip planner for Japan. Just enter start and end destination and the website would suggest the various routes.
btw, Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa and Hotel Pacific near Shinagawa JR Station offers free shuttle bus to Disneyland. But I'm not sure whether it's strictly for guests only or not.

Another way is to take bus from Shinjuku:

Hope that helps !

Hi bekithia, I am staying at Shinagawa JR station, how do I know whether I need a transfer at Tokyo station? Would you be able to tell?
bekithia:
Hi June
Maihama Station is right outside Disneyland. So as long as you are staying very near a JR station that doesn't need a transfer at Tokyo Station, it should be very convenient. Tokyo Station is huge and very tiring rushing from one JR line to another after a long tiring day in Disneyland! -

Thanks Mamemo, I got the JR pass as I am coming from Osaka to Tokyo taking the Shinkasen train. I fgured that if I dun get the pass, it will cost me more
mamemo:
Just to share, the JR Pass is only worth it if you are travelling out of Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka. Also take note that most lines in Kyoto are not JR lines. Otherwise, it's not worth it if you only travel in Tokyo. One 7 day pass cost SGD400plus for adult. Children is half price.[/quote]June:
Thanks much!

RE: Travel: Japan - General
Can I ask whether is it very difficult to get to Disneyland on our own. As I am considering Grand Prince Takanawa (which provides free shuttle bus) vrs Shinagwa Prince. The upside of Shinagwa Prince is that it is very near to the JR Shinagawa but they donβt provide the free shuttle whereas Grand Prince Takanawa is lightly further and need to walk a uphill (accordingly to trip advisor) but they do provide the free shuttle bus to Disneyland.
So the question is: Should I walk further to and fro JR everyday jus for the free shuttle bus or stay nearer to JR but find our own way to Disneyland. Anyone advise?
