You need to write in usually between June and Sep of the previous year. E.g. if your child is going to P1 in 2011, you have to submit your PV letter by Sep this year. Some schools might still accept letters till the end of the year.

Like what some parents mentioned earlier, perhaps writing the letter like a job application letter helps. 🙂

Yes, need to write in and then get shortlisted for interview. You will then be interviewed by a panel of about 3 or 4 pple.

Most schools conduct interview, e.g. RGPS, Gongshan, Catholic, Nanhua

Actually most schools would still screen. But they do not necessarily match the number of PVs to the no of applicants. From what I understand, some schools do that - e.g. they look at historical trends and then they project the number of vacancies that would be available and then they accept only that number of PV applicants.

Some schools screen but they do not take the extra step of trying to match the number of PVs to the usual number of vacancies available in Phase 2B. Hence - the overflow situation.

They are quite upfront with what they need - which seems to be Traffic Wardens most of the time. Jim Rogers’ wife is also a PV I think - as a reading mom. Saw that on ST.

Possible, there are some reading moms and some other PVs I think. Traffic wardens - there are about 15 I think. So probably around that number.

      Chanced upon this thread.

PV for Nanyang Primary is 80 hours and not the usual 40 hours.

Some schools are very stringent with the selection of PVs and try to control the no of PVs selected so that a large % of PVs can successfully get a place without balloting. On the other hand I have heard of schools who do not control the no of PVs that they have - even though they still do the interview screening. In such schools, it is very common to see oversubscribed Phase 2B - meaning PVs dun get a chance to even ballot or even if they have a chance to ballot it is usually like 1:3 or 1:4 chance to get the place.
