Can we apply for schools that is available is other area? instead of north side which is filled now apply for east side schools that still have vacancies?
You can apply anywhere in Singapore... But at 2CS it's better to look for nearer schools that can avoid balloting... Home-school distance still comes into play and you will be disadvantaged if the school you choose is far away.

Is this a record? 600%!

Princess Elizabeth Primary School
Available vacancies in Phase 2C

38

Number of applicants

226

Balloting: Yes

Balloting will be conducted for Singapore Citizen children residing within 1km of the school. If your application is unsuccessful, you can register for a school with available vacancies in Phase 2C Supplementary.
I think PEPS tops the chart this year... Closely followed by South View..

Lots of 2CS choices around PEPS, so people are willing to take the risk at 2C.

I thought Poi Ching is the next sought after school in Tampines after St Hildas. Can someone share why is there no balloting required in phase 2b? Is the school very stringent on PV selection and control the number really well? How's the PSLE results so far? Are they considered better than the average sch?
They seem quite stringent on PV - actually this is the trend for many schools nowadays. St Hilda's got church members joining at 2B so numbers definitely will be higher.

I wonder if you have considered clementi primary (since you place Pei Tong as 2Cs backup) which is likely to be within 1km as well as alternative in 2C or 2Cs. In clementi primary, for 2Cs you will be competing with the flow over from Nanhua 2C folks (Likely SC balloting within 1km for 2Cs). It may sound odd but people seem to go for Nan Hua in 2C, then 2Cs clementi primary then if failed, let MOE place them in Pei Tong before phase 3 starts.
Lol a good friend of mine was one of those you described: tried Nan Hua in 2C, Clementi Primary in 2CS, then failed and was assigned to Pei Tong. I guess it's a logical move cos there is no loss to try Nan Hua - if failed, you will end up with either Clementi or Pei Tong which are not much different.

After 2020, I think it is likely that Primary 1 registration would be made fully online in the future as in this year.

Parents would have to adapt their registration strategy to a blind bidding after this year hiccups. Everyone's best chance in any oversubscribed is the schools where you are <1km.

It saves the primary schools the manpower to man the registration booths for the entire process and save them the trouble from the incessant phone calls to get updates of the number of applicants for each phase and for each distance. No one can get an unfair advantage from being more diligent to keep calling and taking leave on the last day of registration to assess where the best chances are. Fully computerised and transparent.

It levels the playing field in the sense that no one can obtain the distance breakdown this year.

But, this non-transparency is a step backward. This year sudden move to fully online, maybe no time to upgrade the system.

Going forward, should improve the online platform to provide distance breakdown. So that parents can make an informed choice & not waste their 2C chance.

Same like how the DSA portal can be improved to show the status of the application. It’s not that difficult to do in this day & age.

On the contrary, not providing distance breakdown IS THE FAIREST method. An informed choice and the concept of not wasting the 2C chance are the by-product of an unfair system. The whole idea is if you want to apply, go ahead and take the risk. However, if you take the risk, you may lose a shot at another school where another parent / family may get it. Having the luxury of picking / choosing is inherently unfair.
I kinda feel this is the thinking MOE will have if they want to level the ground. For all you know, to minimise all the last minute withdrawal and changing, next year they may just reveal the application numbers only when the whole Phase is over, not on a daily basis 🤷 🤷

Thanks Zac's Mum

correct me if i'm wrong, 31st may is the cut off the for P1-S system to show the correct address, if that does not show your correct address, then you need to use the online form (that's what the MOE CS told me). Now the online form takes from MyInfo, so maybe they show the addresses updated within the month of june?

I read the guide on the online form... It automatically takes the address from My info, but there is a button to click \"No\" to that address, then update the new address and upload the pdf/jpg of your NRIC, showing the new address.

Rulang is pretty strict with the PV program. I put a indication that it could be >2km balloting at 2B.

They took 16 PV this year... Quite a number of GRL usually.

Hi may I know how to get that number for a particular school?
Ask the school....
Or ask people who are PV of the school...
