Hi, I understand that swimming is part of HCI’s PE curriculum.
However, my son does not know how to swim. Will any special arrangements be made for him during PE lessons? Thanks.

1) After using 3/8 of the meat to make meatballs, Tan must have 1-3/8=8/8-3/8=5/8 of the meat left. This is equal to 16*5/8=10 kg of meat. After using 1/2kg of the meat left to make dumplings, Tan would have 10-1/2 = 9 1/2 kg of meat left. Hence the answer is 9 1/2 kg.
2) This question is quite ambiguous. I assume that each of the three blanks represent the same fraction. In that case, we divide 12/14 by 3 to get 4/14. The blank represents 4/14, and 21 times of 4/14 is equal to 4/14*21=4/2*3=6. Hence the answer is 6.
3) At first, it was 3/4 full, and after that, it was 5/12 full. Hence, Chan must have used 3/4-5/12=9/12-5/12=4/12=1/3 of the bottle's syrup. Since 1/3 of the bottle's syrup is 100 ml (given by question), the capacity of the bottle is 100*3=300 ml. Hence the answer is 300 ml.

Hi Parents, I wonder did your DS ever have any irresponsible teammates who were either sick or slack in doing project work like Ace project!!! My DS did almost all the slides by himself even during test period while his friends did nothing in contribution. Worst of all they did not even know the importance of the Project that carries substantial weightage in their overall msg. I wonder how can such students be suitable in IP programme. Furthermore in this consortium! They will make all sorts of lame excuse for not turning up for the discussions or meeting. How sad :stompfeet:
IMHO, if a student did not do his work because of illness, he should not be labelled irresponsible. It's not as if the student wants to fall sick, am I right? -

If a number leaves a remainder of 3 when divided by n, it means that it is 3 more than a certain multiple of n. For example, 33 leaves a remainder of 3 when divided by 10, and it is 3 more than the third multiple of 10 (30). Twice of Ramesh's sweets is 8+12 = 20 sweets. Each of them had 20/2 +12 = 22 sweets at first. -

Which operation shall I work out first after brackets? Multiplication or division?

1) Ratio of their current age:
Jaycee : Kanxi = 1 : 5.
Ratio of their future age:
Jaycee : Kanxi = 1 : 2.
The difference in age between two people will always remain the same no matter what. So we try to make the difference in units the same:
Current age:
J : K : Diff. = 1 : 5 : 4
Future age:
J : K : Diff. = 1 : 2 : 1 = 4 : 8 : 4
Since 1 unit is 9, and the difference is either 4-1 or 8-5 = 3 units, Kanxi's age will be twice that of Jaycee in 9x3 = 27 years.
2) The lowest common multiple of 12 and 15 is 60. We can find this by either listing, or the prime factorisation method (for more advanced learners).
Hence, the lowest such number is 60+3 = 63.
3) 45+(42-12)/6x5
= 45+30/6x5
= 45+5x5
= 70.
Note that 30/6x5 is not equal to 30/(6x5). There is a difference. Whenever multiplication and division or addition and subtraction occur next to each other, we do it from left to right. So, for example, 45-1+1 = 45, and not 45-(1+1) = 43. -
