I have been reading through earlier pages of this thread and since all IJ schools are pretty much the same (except SNGS), I tried to check the affliation COP to see if it’s really worthwhile to travel and was shocked to see that the cut-off for IJ Toa Payoh is 242 without affliation. Have they gone the same way as SJI now? I remember in my days, it wasnt a very competitive school, just one of the good school.

Boy this thread is active, sorry for the slow response. Thanks cherrygal!

      Mum2jj,
If I were you, and worry about the distance etc, I would just move house rather than throw away a good school option. If you moved to Braddell area, it would be near Maris Stella and CHIJ TP.
Moving is a last option due to the hassle and costs involved. Also becoz the afterschool care is within walking distance, hence school bus didnt charge extra and my in-laws also living in Hougang can help to ferry when we need to work OT.
      cherrygal:
Only exception is if you attended CHIJ St Nicholas Secondary but came from another primary school. CHIJ St Nicholas is the only convent that is a full school (under 1 principal). ...
Isnt CHIJ Toa Payoh a full school too? It is in the same premises but yeah, there were 2 principals. So that means those who only attended secondary there cannot apply under 2A? I attended the primary school in Victoria Street, counted right? Oops, did I just gave away my age?

Anyone would like to share enrolling in CHIJ Toa Payoh vs Nativity?

I’m an old gal of CHIJ Toa Payoh and lives in Hougang area, so my first thought was definitely IJ Toa Payoh under 2A. However, my boy attends Maris Stella which is nearer to home than Toa Payoh, and I see the poor chap getting up at 5:45a.m. becoz the school bus takes 1hr+ so I hate to subject my poor gal to the same. I was also considering the secondary school affiliation later on, which attending IJ Nativity would not have. What would you do?

My boy also cfmd HFMD today, but he has no fever though. We noticed a few small spots after school yesterday and this morning it looked redder and bigger. School told me he is the 12th boy in his class but down played it and said 2 undiagnosed boys stayed home voluntarily, so it’s actually 10. However, my hunch was right - I happen to speak to another MSHSP parent today and her P3 boy has 6 down with HFMD in his class. P2, P3 … I really wonder how serious it is. Kinda like an outbreak now, if it’s a childcare centre would have been shut down already.

Seems like the HDMD situation in my ds class is getting from bad to worse! As of today, 11 boys are on mc with 2 additional cases at the end of school day. The boys are not allowed to canteen during recess, the teachers will buy food and bring it up them. Feels that the school should be updating us with first hand information about the updates rather than we parents share info to find our what's going on, and if need be get the class boys to stay away for this week at least. From 5 absentees (on mon) to 11 absentees today and probably more tomorrow, the teachers will probably not be able to execute their curriculum effectively too.

May I know which class is this? Just want to know whether if it is the same class as my DS? Can PM the class if it is not convenience to post it here. Thanks.

PM you liao, bigfoot. But for all we know, we may be talking of different classes altogether. Relax, folks. Depending on the strain, it could be quite mild esp. for older kids. My ds2 got it last year at 3yrs+ he recovered pretty well, although ds1 (P1 at the time) slept in a different room, we are all in the same house and also ended up playing together sometimes. It was the school holidays then so ds1 was at home, his only complaint was sore throat not sure caught it or not. U/stand the younger the child is, the more serious.

Ermmm, tats strange. DS fr 1E, & thats where I found e 听写list.

I tried it at office today and I got it, tks! Don't know if it's due to website maintenance or what, I assessed it at night from home and the connection was also very slow. A/W, can only get it under the student's log in, because under parents' log-in, under the heading \"2012 CL 2A Tingxie\", cannot click in, can only check status, it does not lead to a folder with PDF files.

      Intricater:
The 听写list can be found under the 'Home' link, in the left hand panel, there's a 'My Assignment'. Click on that and u should be able to locate the list.

I checked, both \"My Assignment\" under parents' and students' log in and both came back no assignment.

BTW, I got the school letter today ifming the HFMD case, letter says 3 but ds said actually 6 got it.

Oh no, my boy didnt mention anything either! Must ask him tonite. BTW, any of you used the MC portal? I don’t like it as much as the teacher blog last year, but unfortunately only P1 gets the blog. Ds lost his Ting-xie list and I couldnt find it anywhere on the portal - not parents’ nor the students.'

      thanks.
There should be a note from the teacher - my ds has always brought home this 1/2 A4-sized paper printed with instructions how to prepare for the Chinese show-and-tell from greeting to the topics.
