bigfoot:You dont get good schools like MS that is not difficult to get in, it wasnt on my radar either until I found this forum, thank God! I didnt think I had a chance before. Soon, more and more parents will be aware of this open secret. The area is not that far from AMK actually.
Just my opinion. If I were you, I wouldn't take the chance. I will move. Frankly speaking, MS was not even in my radar when choosing primary school.
If u want my opinion, there will definitely be more spillover from CHS next year. I won't be surprise the Phase 2B balloting will get more intense.

I dun understand why my son must be pick up by 6am if thomson area can be picked up at 630am. I must check with the driver again. Somehow, I dun trust what he said that day. There were so many ppl and I am sure he had estimated the time in haste.
I agree! Seems everyone is told 6am, mine too! I asked the guy not aunty, maybe it's their standard answer before they work out the routes. I was telling DH if so early we might as well send ds1 to school ourselves, it's only 15mins. drive, even detouring to send ds2 to childcare also dont need so early. It doesnt make sense for Tiong Bahru (which is so far away) to have the same pick-up time as yours and mine (Boon Keng/Lavendar). -

Thank you 2DMommy! :salute:

I wish the menu has fruits everyday. Are u guys sure the teacher help to ensure the boys finishes their food? Back in our days, the teachers take their own little break. My son is a food thrower, whatever he doesnt like (and it's alot!) he throws away.Great variety. And it is a good thing that the teacher help to ensure the boys finishes their food. My son is also a SLOW eater. Always one of the last in class to finish his food.

Yes, the nearer the better as I heard from P3 onwards there will be alot of CCAs so school bus will be hard to arrange, it's either walk home or take public transport. -
RE: Maris Stella High
Thank u mummies, so guess better cater. BTW, do u know what class yr boys are in? The package doesnt say, but I read that some schools like Marymount Convent already ifm the parents. Reason I asked is becoz it says that parents are to bring their child to the respective classroom first thing upon arrival.
Also, since u r more experienced 2Dmommy, do u purchase the optional books? Would the school teachers ever need to use them? -
RE: Maris Stella High
Just curious, how many mummies cater food for their P1-3 boys? $1.50 is quite ex considering my recess allowance was only 50cents. Even with inflation, $1 should get a decent meal. Are P1-3 students not allowed to go to the canteen even if they r mature enuf to buy on their own?
Also, my boy is a picky eater, I’m afraid he would just throw away food without my knowledge, sigh … but packing food is troublesome and I dont want ds to feel left out if most classmates get catered food. How many of u will cater? -
RE: MotherGoose
I don’t know about Singapore but my ds2 attended their centre in Suzhou, China and I like their teachers, both Singaporean and local lao-shis – caring and motherly type. My boy was only 18mths then and he adjusted very well. My only complaint is they don’t have any clerical staff. Admin. work was usually done by the principal herself.

RE: Criteria for a Good Student Care Service (BASC)
We are currently staying with my mum so ds2 is attending a CC downtown, but we are looking at moving back to our own place in Hougang when ds1 enters P1. So far, I’m looking at either Cambridge or Blossom group of CC. Pat’s schoolhouse Serangoon is out of my budget.

RE: Criteria for a Good Student Care Service (BASC)
Hi fellow mummies! From the web, many of them looked ok that’s why I hope to get feedback from the "horse’s mouth". There’s one called "Dedicated" at St. 91 website say until like very good, I think the first branch was in AMK so they have students from St. Nics etc. in their care who did well. I’m also looking for one who can coach my boy in homework too. I havent got time to check-out, now still at the comparing-address-to-work-out-logistics part, so hope to get comments before I make the trip down. Also have to compare the distance bet. there and ds2 childcare centre, headache! Unfortunately, most childcare don’t offer BASC, the two CC I like for ds2 don’t offer BASC!

RE: Criteria for a Good Student Care Service (BASC)
Can anyone enlighten me on the difference bet. BASC and student care services? After reading thru’ this thread, it seems BASC do not tutor :!: right?
Can anyone recommend a good student care centre in Hougang?
TIA! Seems there aren’t any good ones in this forum’s listing. Saw one with 5stars rating in Pasir Ris only. -
RE: Cambridge @ Serangoon Country club
I was thinking of switching child care centre becoz my boy is not adjusting well in his current centre and someone from other forum suggested Cambridge as below:
"Maybe you can consider Cambridge at Serangoon Garden Country Club. My son is in N2. Low teacher turnover rate & the centre is new. They opened last yr November. The boss has other branch in Mei Hwan."
HTH.
