the strange thing about their report book this time round is that they don’t indicate any marks, let alone class position / position in level. report book quite silent. haha! my child is going to p3-5.

      p1momsg2014:
Hi all, my son is going to Primary next year and he is still NOT able to read 4 letter words. I read that some children already started reading at 3 and 4 years old. Oh dear, is my child very behind and not ready for primary school? What can I do at this moment to help him at home or should I enroll him in some kind of intensive course programme?

hi p1momsg2014, if you're concern that your son is entering p1 next year and still not able to read, try the Children Learning Reading program. Ive been using that program to teach my son and he's now and able to read. Please with the results! 🙂 http://www.mumsafari.com/category/learning-reading/

    • RE: My child can't read

My son could not read at first.

In my opinion, sending your child to classes can only gain limited reading progress because of large group of students (or even small group). I believe more in teaching and learning at home because I'm with my child all the time and understand how to teach my child better. Perhaps yoou can do it too!

I'm happy to share how I taught my child to read and the materials I used called the http://www.mumsafari.com/category/learning-reading/.

Sometimes, teaching him just 10minutes a day and teaching a few words when we are on the go (if we see road signs, food packaging etc) can be very useful. I read a lot of story books to him too.

As learning reading for children is a mean and not an end, take time and patience to teach before you can expect results. Good luck!

    • RE: Preparing your Child at their Early Stage is it Good or Not?

I would say it should be a balance. Taking time off your kids from playing games on gadgets and teaching them some useful early learning or bringing kids to the library is definitely worth while.

Learning and teaching doesn't have to be dry and boring. They are many teaching materials a parent can adopt.

I'm using the Children Learning Reading program to teach my son reading. He's definitely enjoying it and I'm pleased with his progress. http://www.mumsafari.com/category/learning-reading/

    • RE: Any good dentist to recommend for a 3 yr old?

The School Dentist at Health Promotion Board is recommended. The dentist are really good with kids and the clinic setting is fun and makes kids relax. Subsidize for singaporean - scaling and polishing affordable @ $9. But you have to call in advance and expect to wait for months.
