No actually I think last year my teacher told us first couple of days waking up early will be easy but then by the end of the week then you’ll start feeling the strain of waking up early.

Now that it's June Holidays, I thought I could relax... But instead I have CCA from 9 to 5 every Tuesday and Thursday, and Sec 1s aren't even allowed to perform (I'm in a Performing Arts CCA) ... 😞

Haha, family tree is just the tip of the iceberg…

After that you have to do a portfolio entry-With an arrefact, commentary and reflection. The artefact in this case will be the write up, and you have to do a commentary on it. Then you have to do a reflection on the commentary. Later on in the year you have to do another one, but with another artefact the teacher will provide. You have to do 2 each year (P5 and P6) but you need to pick your own artefact after P4.

      Reversi:
It is quite worrying if your DC goes to bed at 11+, I remember being able to call it a day by about 9pm. It's definitely a culture shock being in a stressful new environment (like Sec 1  ) Here are some tips that might relieve stress: 😄

      1. Have a sense of urgency. Try to keep on task and if possible, start little bite-size bits of revision for CTs - They'll be rolling by in no time at all. Cramming for a CT is a very horrible experience, especially if you are not very strong in that subject. Mark out the CT dates on a calender and plan a revision schedule.

      2. Don't be a perfectionist. This is a recurring problem among Geppers - being conscientious and careful is good, but nitpicking to a point where homework drags on and on is unhealthy. If you are unable to solve a question, don't waste time! Re-visit it after some time, or try reading up independently online. Alternatively, seek help from teachers the next day, who will gladly explain the concept.

      3. For parents, if you see your kids looking frazzled/stressed out, give them little pep talks (especially once CTs start). Encourage them to talk to you about the stress/academic problems that they are facing - getting it out of their system takes away some stress.

      4. Listen out for tips in class! If teachers say: 'Oh, this question is always tested', revise the concept because it may very well be part of a killer question (they always have them)

It's very important not to burn out at this early stage! P4 is only the tip of the iceberg - P6 is a killer year. Hectic periods don't always last throughout the year (in fact, this is not considered a stressful point!) Jiayou kiddos! :rahrah: You can do it!
Hi, Reversi! May I ask which GE centre you're from? We could be school mates! O.o

It's actually very normal if your children don't score > 80 for all their subjects in P4. I remember it being a rather big jump from P3 to P4. If they sleep at 11+, it may also be because they're secretly doing other things when they are supposedly doing work. Most of my friends are guilty of doing that. 😓

I’m not coping well… friend issues, schoolwork issues… (7 ongoing projects at the same time right now) I’m too tired to even pack my bag at the end of the day…

I was thinking, instead of those fancy multi-pocket files (which almost always never works for me) you could have one L shape file for everything? Like, one for all the homework, one for those to hand up, and one for each subject it should be much cheaper too, since each file (transparent coloured ones) cost about 50 cents.

      Maths Tutor Mr. Lim:
last year psle maths paper is a jokes, happen about once every 50 years :rotflmao:

psle exam paper difficult or easy not important, why?
      % of A and A star (standard Subjects) National 2013 (2012)
      eng 44.4 (44.7)
      maths 45.3 (44.5)
      science 42.0 (42.3)
      chinese 77.8 (80.7), think...............

0.75 = 3/4 easier to remember compared to 0.72 (use by school teacher)
both also not accurate, need to +-10 or +-20
may be 0.7212348903489234879352 more accurate :rotflmao:

more than 100 if, not just 2 if, think........
      eg
      if fainted during exam :rotflmao:
Not really. Coincidentally, it was rhe same year MOE decided not to release top scores and also decided that the PSLE scores will be graded by bands soon. MOE seems to be attempting to apply less stress on the PSLE. 0.72 is pretty accurate, probably what I would have gotten if I hadn't stepped up my game in the final few days. Maybe you're just afraid you'll lose business if it becomes known that PSLE is going to be easier? 😆

i see my girl struggling with her maths.

is it necessary to gear such a high standard for the maths???

There are quite a number of kids getting close to full mark.

Maybe your girl is stronger in languages?

I don't think it's a matter of 'necessity', but more of that it's part of the GE syllabus which enriches with extra info.

Hello there, graduate GEP student here. (I was in the GEP from 2011-2013) If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them. 🙂

P.S. And a heads-up: Your child would likely score 70-80% per subject only for his/her dirst year, because the syllabus is rather different from the normal one. In P6 for our last GE exam we even thought thay scoring 85% was admirable.
