Hazeline, both RJC and HCJC are equally good. I’m not sure where you got the ranking from as MOE scrapped the ranking system in 2004. Anyway, ranking is based on a narrow set of parameters like the percentage of students who score 4 As. More important is whether the environment and CCA of the school fit your child. I remember there were some years where the COP for HCJC was better than RJC.

Hazelmama, all affilitated students who put School A as 1st choice will get in as long as they meet the affiliated COP. The remaining places in School A are then allocated by merit to non-affiliated students. This will change next year when 20% of the vacancies are reserved for non-affiliated students.


It is rare for popular schools to only have 90 vacancies for Express stream. NYGH affiliated is 250 and the O level track is more of an option for students who have tried the IP program but can’t do well enough so your example is not going to happen.

Sure, you can put it as the first choice. 6 choices are more than enough. If you choose schools with the same or lower COP in the 2nd and 3rd choices, you will get those schools if the 1st choice is not successful.

The COP is the aggregate of the last student who gets in. If your child lists the school among his choices and there are still places in the school when it is your child's turn in the system, he will be placed in the school. If he is the last student to get in, then his score becomes the school's COP for 2018. The COP is unlikely to drop so much from year to year which is why people use 2017 and 2016 COP as a gauge.

It is better to air the shoes than keep them in shoe boxes which are closed up. Silicon dessicants don’t really work well in humid climates like Singapore. Low quality man-made leather tend to disintegrate quickly in high humidity conditions.
