RE: 2017 Secondary Schools' Open House Dates
Those with DSA must open school earlier due to the closing date of submission of DSA, those without DSA can do anytime before PSLE results are out, or typically after as well.

RE: Q&A - P3 English
1 quick question on Sentence Combining using While
Betty was singing a song. Betty was playing in the garden.
A) Betty was singing a song while she was playing in the garden.
B) Betty was singing a song while playing in the garden.
Is A or B more correct ? I think both seems to be ok, but teachers always are very particular about 1 model answer… -
RE: Q&A - P3 Math
foreverj:
Sally's dad got a new car with plate number 1234. He wants to make sure he maximizes his chance to win 4D, how many combination should he buy ?Hi all, not sure if this question has been asked earlier.
Sally has to revise 4 subjects English, Chinese,Math and Science for her exam daily. She may revise the subjects in any order. How many different ways can she use to prepare for her exam.
The question is based on my understanding of the question. But I find it rather challenging for p3 heuristics. Anyone can shed light on how to go abt tackling the above?
thank you very much!
There are 4 ways to choose the first digit (subject), 3 ways to choose the 2nd one, 2 ways for 3rd one and 1 way for last one. So the total number of 4D he has to buy is 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 24.
For P3 student, he can do a table to list all combinations:
1 2 3 4
1 2 4 3
1 3 2 4
1 3 4 2
1 4 2 3
1 4 3 2
2 1 3 4
2 1 4 3
2 3 1 4
2 3 4 1
2 4 1 3
2 4 3 1
3 1 2 4
3 1 4 2
3 2 1 4
3 2 4 1
3 4 1 2
3 4 2 1
4 1 2 3
4 1 3 2
4 2 1 3
4 2 3 1
4 3 1 2
4 3 2 1 -

RE: Henry Park Primary
Hi Parents,
I am back with the latest release of 2014 PSLE results. Here is the Google Doc Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z6jwmk0Jc6BxAA9gcB3Tm9EZLF8AklPcCB2Taz-DogQ/edit?usp=sharing
In all, i think the PSLE results (A and A*) for Henry Park has continued to slide. Maths has dropped 10% to a very low 56.7% compared to 63% in 2013. HPPS in 2011 has over 68% ! I think the golden years have ended.
A side note is that in our LTP from the school, it was mentioned:
\"Our pupils did well in the PSLE 2014. There was an overall increase in the number of top students. In all the subjects, we have continued to do well (compared with National results and Comparable schools). \"
Assuming both the numbers and LTP comment are accurate, then I could only speculate:
- The top students in HPPS are really good, meaning the bulk of the rest are really just scoring Bs and below.
- Comparable schools also decline as badly as HPPS. Not sure who is HPPS compared to, nowadays given the bad percentages.
I am so worried now, gotta get my kids to rely less on the school but more on ourselves. -

DSMolly:
Thanks for bring this up, I have the same experience when my kids joined P1 a few years back. They did not go so far as to say not sell you any books, but they pressure you to buy things that I would deem as optional. They hard-sell me composition books that were even printed years ago and totally not relevant to P1 students' current syllabus.
Can parents share if this has happened to you? The school management responded that this is not the case and is trying to evade my other queries.
Eventually when my younger went P1 (and i was wiser), I bought the P1 books together with the older ones. Because they knew you are not new P1 parents, they did not bother to cross-sell/up-sell anything. -

Are there any difference in the booklist for the top 4 and the next 4 classes?
