    • RE: Thyroid disorder

      Hi CalmingMind,

Thanks for sharing. Yep, it can be trying. And more on him than me. He has also been good and careful on his own medication. As I had been working most of the time, he has been very independent in taking care of himself. When I can, I would accompany him to the docs.

I would keep in mind your advice on him staying happy and relaxed. I thought I am the high strung one. Haha. Maybe I have added to his stress. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜„

    • RE: Thyroid disorder

      Dear Pierce,

For my hubby, he has heart palpitations and his hands tremble. The condition can be overcorrected and he goes into hypothyroid where he does not have enough thyroxin.

Also, if the drug dosage is not properly caliberated ie too high and there is insufficient thyroxin, he will feel flat and experiences sudden dip/loss of energy to the extent he needs to lie down or goes to sleep early.

CalmingMind, what procedure have you gone through? Are you on permanent medication? I imagine if my DH takes the latest advice and removes his thyroid, he would be on permanent medication. I am feeling uncomfortable about this procedure though I have heard that many have done it and are fine.

For him, the right drug calibration is crucial. But all else are fine as in the eyes while pop out, has no cornea scratches nor nerve damages. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank God for it.

    • RE: Thyroid disorder

Hi, DH has hyperthyroid and has been receiving treatment for more than a year. Still, I am no doctor and this is an observerโ€™s (a lazy one) account.

He had gone through 2 courses of steroid treatment. His eyes pop out as the muscles is inflamed. The eyes tear at night and disturb his sleep sometimes. While the condition is stablised, it is not improving. To alleviate the condition, he went on block and replaced, ie the thyroid is blocked from producing thyroxin and drug is given to replace the thyroxin needed which would be controlled. The latest advice is to consider removing the whole thyroid as the autoimmune system is reacting to the thyroid. Oh, to identify the cause of hyperthroid is important. For my DH, it is the auto-immune system reacting to the thyroid and sending signal to overproduce thyroxin like attacking a pathogen. As a result, the eyes are also hit. The recommendation to remove the thyroid is aimed at removing the target so that the whole body immune system does not over react and over produce thyroxin and upset the body balance.

It may be good to check with a western doctor bf going to TCM. ๐Ÿ™‚ He sees an endocrine specialist and an eye specialist.

Agree on park connector being safer.

I walked today and picked this fruit up. Has anyone seen this fruit? I saw this one tree near the PCN bicycle kiok ladden with grapefruit sized fruits. It has bracts like young coconuts. In fact, the fruit is as hard as a young coconut. I picked up one that dropped to the ground.

      I like plants and trees. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

      Hi,

I just past the information to my sis in law. In her words, she smsed: O thank you soooo much u r such a blessing as many autistic parents are looking for one! I will pass this on.

Thank you for such crucial information. I am sure Denise Phua would want to know or may already know. ๐Ÿ™‚

No ball games for me. Hoping to go cycling since I stay in the east. East Coast is a natural place for cycling with cycling paths and beach.

      Good luck!
