I was just reading some of the forums on P6 prelims and PSLE. A question. Are the prelim exam results really a kind of indication as to the kind of PSLE results one's child might achieve? My son seems to be doing quite well in Maths and Science but not satisfying at all in his languages. Now I am really starting to get worried! His compo is not that fantastic. Help??? :?:

We were at Gold Coast last December (our first time) and had the perfect apartment and a perfect holiday! It’s callled Breakfree Paradise centre resort. it’s at Hanlan street which is just round the corner of cavill avenue (their equivalent of our orcahrd road) and next to Marriot Hotel. You can choose 1, 2 or 3 bedroom. we had the 26th floor and had a spectacular view of the pacific ocean. The apartment comes equipped with ALL facilities - ironing board, washing machine, dryer, oven, microwave, you name it. I would highly recommend it. We booked online. Check it out in the internet.

I had my first child when I was 40 - had no problem conceiving then. Pregnancy was an absolute breeze - no cravings, no morning sickness. Doctor asked if I wanted to do an amniocentesis but heard there is a risk of miscarriage so decided against it. I was blessed with a perfectly healthy boy. After that though, I had a few miscarriages.


Pros of being an older mum? I am more patient, more tolerant and take things in my stride.

Cons - No energy! As an older mum, I can’t enjoy too many sporting activities with him - except cycling. I’m drained sometimes…

For me, an ideal age would be 30 and below.

I would like to thank each and everyone for ALL your advise and information. This was my first post and the replies I have had are encouraging and I am truly grateful. It's comforting, in a bizzare way, to know other parents have gone through the same stressful moment as I am now! :?

dear daisyt, thank you so much for your feedback. I understand the need to be exposed to tricky and difficult questions, but it's just that when he does a practise paper that is just too hard, he gets disheartened. I do my reasoning with him but I do feel sorry for the kids to the kind of pressure they are facing in their educational life.


And yes, with the use of calculator for the first time this year, it's anybody's guess whether the maths papers will be hard or easy!

sigh.....i don't know who's eagerly waiting for the last day of PSLE. me or him!

My son will be taking his PSLE this year. Like most parents I guess, I buy past years assessment papers for him to practise. And I also purchase those books that have past PSLE questions from 2004 - 2008. I find that some of the assessment papers set by some schools seems to be more difficult than the PSLE books itself. My question is, is the PSLE really that hard that parents can’t help but go overboard sometimes to make sure their child "covers" all questions possible that may appear in the examination papers? Is it absolutely necessary to expose them to such questions for them to do well?

Please advise, parents who have gone through this!
