• RE: Pei Chun Public

Hi Belwider

In my opinion, I feel you should not rush to make the transfer. Sorry to step in as my child is not in Pei Chun. I was once in your position (thinking about transferring) as I feel the standard in my child’s school is a bit low. However, over the past months, I observed that my daughter is enjoying school and she is coping very well too. She looks forward to go to school every day and I feel this is very important. If I were to transfer her to another school, I am not sure if she will be the same.

Do try speaking to your son’s form teacher. Personally, I do not think it is a difficult task for the school if your child’s grade is reasonable (at least must be band 1?) and you feel the programme will benefit him. My niece was not in the MO either but my brother requested for her to be enrolled and the school agreed. That was a few years back. Similar to your child, my niece is very good in Math but somehow, she did not do too well in her school tests. She is now a Sec 2 student in NUS High School. MO and competitions did help to stretch her potential.

As for my own daughter, she is a language person so this programme will not benefit her. Ultimately, it really depends on the child.

Just my 2 cents worth. 🙂

Princess gal, I didn't know about the HMT option. Is there an announcement?

My DD brought back a letter from the school on Fri. You may like to check with your DD's FT.

Anyone attending the Prize Presentation award on 14 Nov?

I’ll try to attend.
I understand all P1 students who got Band 1 will be offered HMT for P2.
Anyone not taking up the offer?

Thanks phtthp. So far, I find your feedback very reliable and you are also very generous in sharing. If you say it is good, I am sure 有水准!

I prefer P1 and P2 separate. My girl is nowhere close to P2 standard. If she does not understand what the teacher is teaching, it will be a waste of time.
I will go down and take a look - Han vs ZAS.

ZAS is decent but very small cohort. P1 start simple CW. Haven't seen Han. Can't comment.

Thanks jetsetter!

Never seen ZAS material before.

Ok. Are the P1 and P2 combined in the same Sun class?

What a coincident! I went down TPY branch just last week too. Same like you, I browsed their P2 Compre & Compo materials. Was quite surprised to find out their standard and how structured they planned their course. PM me if you intend to form a class. I understand that min. 3 to form?

Have called up many Han Chinese branches.

For P2 - so far, only Han language (Toa Payoh) branch offer Compreh cum Compo, after calling up a lot of branches.
Their only P2 class for this : is Sunday 9.30 am to 11 am (1.5 hrs)
This class had already started, with a few children inside.
Lovinglife, if this Sunday timing is ok with you, good to proceed, let your son join this class.

The rest of Han branches do not offer P2 Compo.
They only offer the normal, usual, regular class.

When asked why, Han replied that most P2 students still don't know how to write Chinese compo, yet. They still learning to build up their vocabulary storage database.
Han said for Compo, most branches start only from P3 onwards.

This is quite true, because I asked some of my friends why don't they send their P2 kids for Compo, since their P2 sons rather weak, in Compo ?
One father replied that his son already struggling with fill in the blanks, for tian cong Han Zi, during Chinese lessons in school.
He said his P2 son still don't know how to write quite a lot of Chinese characters, so how to move on proceed to writing Compo (zuo wen) ?
I asked around a few other friends also with P2 kids.
They also said their P2 kids not ready

Hi phtthp, do you mean that this year P1 students are able to join P2 CW and compo class?
Have you seen ZAS materials before? I understand they also have compo and compre but I am not sure how is the standard as compare to Han.

I am surprised, I thought PCPS is still one of the top Primary schools? Didn’t know it has been downgraded to an average school now.
If buying from parallel importer, please be sure to check the product freshness (manufactured / expiry date). We can google to check how to interpret product batch code. Someone taught me how to read this.

Estée Lauder -Batch A21 - look at last 2 digits. The middle number denotes the month and last number the year. This product was manufactured in Feb 2011. Already almost expired! Normally consumers will not buy skin care products that are older than 2 years.

Thanks for this sharing, princess.gal.

For those interested (not sure how accurate thou ...) , found this \"cosmetic calculator\" online :

http://checkcosmetic.net/

Based on above, for my Lancome pdts : seems like batch codes with J in them are those manufactured in 2012, K is 2013 ...
Thanks Interger. This is cool! 😄

Anyone already tried the new Estee Lauder Micro Essence?

The product is very similar to SKII miracle water but I heard is cheaper.
Not sure if it’s good.
