One more question, is there any CCA that will require the students to go back to school on Saturdays?

Quite a few. Scouts being one of them.

      Dear parents,

Though the music teacher will teach them the school song on the first day of Orientation (Monday), the Classical Chinese in the school song may be difficult to memorise on-the-spot. So, I suggest that your sons listen to the Hwa Chong school song this weekend to get familiar with it. The rest will be covered by the music teacher.

Another question, does HCI has Maths Team or Maths Club (not CCA) - that provides accelerated Maths / Math Olympiads / Maths competition? If so, what are the selection criteria? And is it available for the Year 1 boys?

      Thank you!
      There is a Socrates Club.

Hi, thank u all for your sharing, it's really very helpful.

However, I have some concern recently. My ds is in class 1O3, it's quite further away from canteen. He got some problems getting his food during lunch, coz a few food stores out of food by the time he reach there. I'm worried abt his stomach. Any parents here facing similar issues? Any suggestion? And where to feedback abt this? Thanks in advance!
On days with afternoon activities with a lot of students involved, it is best to arrive at the canteen before 1:50 pm. Any later than that, there is a risk that the food has been sold out. This scenario, of course, varies daily.

Having a meal during recess is a good idea. The coffee and snacks stall has the second shortest queue, after the drinks stall. Even a small bun for lunch will last one throughout the day. But if there is really no choice, skipping lunch is survivable. I remember that I have skipped lunch a handful of times last year.

Is 3 Feb 2013 a public holiday for Hwa Chong ?

Yes, according to the student handbook. You can refer to the student handbook for major school events and holidays.

      Hope everyone is doing well.
thanks, dodo bird, but we can't log in yet, cos ds doesn't have his ID/password. guess they will find out on Monday.

The EMB ID is probably the second most used form of identification other than your name. It is your class + index number.

For example, a student from 1A2 has a register number of 06. His EMB ID is 1A206.

The default EMB password is the student's IC number (T01xxxxxX), and it is not case-sensitive, so whether the letters are capital letters or small letters makes no difference.

Thanks Q Pan for yr help but I think the school admin hasn't set the account for S1 yet. Tried logging in but it says invalid userid or password. Did any S1 manage to login? If not, we'll wait tmr and try again. Thanks.
The EMBs for the Sec 1s will be activated around the second/third week of school.

      Happy new year to all!

Hi q pan, what time is the school canteen open in the morning? My boy's sch bus will reach sch around 6.50am everyday. Am wondering if he can take breakfast in the canteen.

The canteen stalls are open very early in the morning, even before 6:50 am, but I am not sure whether all stalls are ready. The Yong Tau Foo stall needs to cook the broth sometimes, so the stallholders may not be ready to sell food.

However, the coffee/tea/bread/pau stall is open and ready early in the morning. I usually have a hot cup of Milo at 7 am when I feel chilly.
