I need help on the rationale behind why the answer is (3) for the below question. If the answer is (3), the principle \"Air can be compressed\" does not apply to the balloon. So which principle explains and support the answer below. Thank you so much.

Hello! I got confused at first with the question. I even asked my elder daughter to check it for me 🙂

Setup A, the glass ball cannot be expanded. When the plunger is pushed, the 100 cm of air entering the glass ball is compressed into the 300 cm of space in the glass ball (note: gas does not have definite volume and can be compressed)

Setup B, the balloon can be inflated. When the plunger is pushed, the 100 cm of air is pushed into the balloon causing it to inflate and since the balloon can be inflated, it will take up the additional 100cm of space (300 + 100). Hope this helps!

Hello! Section B is really tough. I am considering maths heuristic section B class or CCE for the holiday break. I am seriously considering either one but if someone could give me feedback on how the classes helped their kids, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

    • RE: No More Rote Memorization

The criticism is that students end up memorizing facts but they don’t have the skills to meaningfully interpret these facts or to apply them to other contexts. Aside from changes in the curriculum, I think teachers should be more student-centered in their teaching approach.

The War On Diabetes Needs You

Do you want to live diabetes-free? And if you have diabetes, how do you manage your diabetic condition well? Now is the time to fight. With your help, we can win this war!

For these past few months, many of us have heard or read about diabetes, its causes and costs. We are now inviting Singaporeans to be part of a decision making process on diabetes.

The Citizens' Jury (CJ) is a multi-session engagement that spreads over a longer period of time. In the case of the War on Diabetes, engagement is done over a two-month period. Solutions to a community issue are derived from participants' collaborative sense-making, deliberation and debate, and consensus-building. Participants take ownership of their ideas by writing their report at the end of the engagement sessions.

It's a relief that the government is active in pursuing the campaign to stop diabetes. Unfortunately, some people don't take diabetes seriously. It is something that people need to be made aware of, especially that it can lead to problems in the future. You may not feel its effects now because it further manifests long-term. It can affect your vital organs, cause blindness and lead to amputation

    • RE: All About Working With Children Who Are Weak Academically

I personally don’t believe there are children who are ‘weak academically’ but more of children who have bad study habits. I agree that limiting the use of social media and other electronic gadgets should be implemented so as to improve his study skills and time management.

    • RE: Me Time!

It’s rare to squeeze time for myself these days. If I do get some ME time, I spend it in bed reading a book or watching reruns of my favorite TV shows. If I do get a long vacation, I’d hope to spend it getting massages and all.

According to a survey, Singapore ranked 3rd in the world, for school bullying.

I wonder how valid this survey is. If it's legit, it's not something Singapore, or any nation for that matter, should brag about.

I'm not really a fan of online shopping. I know it's more convenient than going to the mall, but at the same time, it's a lot riskier because you provide personal details. Sure, there are legit, credible shopping sites but there are also a handful of sites than can pose a danger to customers so be vigilant!

I agree 100%. In as much as I love the convenience of shopping online, I can't help but think of the consequences it can and will bring. I just feel bad for legit online shopping sites because they are somehow affected by it.

    • RE: All About Child Immunisation

I think a lot of people discount the fact that immunization plays a crucial role in keeping your child healthy. Probably because they are wary of some 'untruths' about it, which are nonsense, bordering on crazy if you ask me. Here's something worth reading: http://www.caringforkids.cps.ca/handouts/vaccines-myths-and-facts
