We live in Tiong Bahru and my girl goes to TKGS…we chose it as it is a girls school and it is strong in language arts as well as offers many triple science classes in Sec 3.
We figured that it’s better to travel to a better school then just sending around our area(which have not many good schools). Do note that they move to a holding site next year which is at Bedok. However, from TB it is a direct MRT line all the way to Bedok. My girl enjoyed her first year at TKGS very much…!!! School culture and spirit is strong!!!

RE: Appeal Secondary One Posting
Yes I do feel that it was unfair of MOE to change the rules of the game. Poorly timed and terribly executed. We were totally caught off guard and many parents and children alike were left unsure of how to proceed due to the vague implementation of this new rule. Publishing an article in the papers doesn’t cut it for me. Schools were also unsure. Basically, no thought was put into this. They have taken us for a ride and guess what…? there is nothing that can be done now. We have to just move on.

RE: DSA 2015
Actually...I was told that first cut is the HAST test...and they don't really look at the results unless they have to make a decision between two girls.
The tests are tough and not everyone is exposed to such questions. Still no regrets that we tried...it a good learning experience...
My girl went for MGS IP but sadly no email yet... So have to just press on for the PSLE and hope for the best...!
All the best for all those going for final interviews!!! :rahrah: -
RE: DSA 2015
Motherof5,
I called MGS yesterday and they said if no news received by end of next week means not shortlisted. They will only email/cal those shortlisted.
All the best to your girl...!

RE: Comparing Science Enrichment Programs
I know of a really good tutor from tuition centre @ Holland area. She's one of the best kept secrets, many high ability kids under her in my DS's school but parents kiasu or selfish, don't want to recommend. Slowly one by one quit own tuition and switch to her. After I sent my son to her, I see why the kids love her, very inspiring. Can pm u if you don't mind the travel.
Julialai, can I have the teacher's contact too? TIA
Hi AtoZ,
I've just PM you. I normally do not recommend a tutor to my friends unless I have tried and tested her work over at least a year or two, and have seen excellent results. This one is a cut above the others whom I have tried over the years. So far, my friends have come back to me with excellent feedback on her.

RE: St James Church Kindergarten
greenbean2011:
how well does St James kindergarten core curriculum prepare children for Pri 1 Chinese, going non-SAP school ?
Not very well at all...so that is why I am considering pulling out after this year so that my son can benefit from a better K programme elsewhere.
I say this as my friends who sent their kids to SJCK all complain that their pri sch gg children are all finding it difficult to catch up.
Feel so sayang to pull my boy out...but I think the school has become complacent over the years and they are definitely over-rated...
Oh btw...fees just raised again....sigh....
