We live in Tiong Bahru and my girl goes to TKGS…we chose it as it is a girls school and it is strong in language arts as well as offers many triple science classes in Sec 3.
We figured that it’s better to travel to a better school then just sending around our area(which have not many good schools). Do note that they move to a holding site next year which is at Bedok. However, from TB it is a direct MRT line all the way to Bedok. My girl enjoyed her first year at TKGS very much…!!! School culture and spirit is strong!!! -

Lesson learnt - never allow a reporter to follow you around n never believe everything that a reporter reports in the news. -

because the \"bigger\" the news they can create, the juicier the news, then the more the news can \"sell\" to public, use it to their advantage, to sell the news. After all, who is the pay master of the reporter ? It is the news agency.
Is the reporter your family member, or your personal friend ? No, they are not. So, no need to show reporter your child's Psle cert.
Because it is in their nature of job, to create news that can sell meatily, to public. To them, is just another day job, of collecting juicy news, Once Psle results been released.
Also, never disclose personal info about your kid to the reporter : should not have divulged name of the kid's primary school, T-score (something so personal). Always protect your kid, from reporter.
If reporter want to dig info out of you, try to give them very vague answer instead, give answer as a range, let them guess
E.g.
When reporter really try to dig into your child's T-score, never disclose the actual one, can give blurry or vague reply, just say \"below 280, below 270, below 260, below 250, whatever range .... it is still a truthful, honest answer, but no need to mention the actual figure, so as to protect your child, from un-necessary gossip, from kaypoh prying eyes\" -

Tiong Bahru to TKGS is a long ride indeed! But if it fits your child, the distance is definitely worth it. I know some TKGS kids around my area and they are always well behaved and courteous. And yes, school culture and spirit are definitely important factors. You want your child to be proud of her school and mates. We live in Tiong Bahru and my girl goes to TKGS...we chose it as it is a girls school and it is strong in language arts as well as offers many triple science classes in Sec 3.
