Wow. This is a serious issue. I wonder if the teachers ever go in to inspect the hygiene standards.

Question - Teachers themselves didnt realise that or they dont go toilet? or Staff toilets dont have such problem? Not trying to dwell too much on it, but this is basic hygenic issues, and for a school like RGPS to happen, a bit not acceptable.
I wonder how long they take to familiarise with the 'new' school environment; which is often brought up as an excuse.

Does anyone know how the school is going to address the dirty toilet issue? My girl complained that there are pimple like lumps on her bottom which we suspected that it is caused by the toilet bowls at school. She said it is painful.
Last week during Parent meeting session, went to inspect their toilets. My God, it is even worst than those in Hawker Centre. Did not have a chance to feedback over this issue as teachers were just busy flashing powerpoint slides.
I am more concern if this become a long term issues, girls will end up developing UTI, which can be no joke matter!

Sorry to say but I feel these matters should be alerted to the teachers or principal..the admin doesnt help. I had a bad experience with the admin office once. My girl was sick and callled me to fetch her.. fortunately she had her mobile. I called her 5 mins before I reached school and she told me she is at the sick bay in general office ( last year on old school). When I reach g.o. the staff told me they don have anyone at the sick bay. I was shock and they asked me to go to her class or canteen to find her as it was recess time. After I walked out, I felt something not right so I called my girl. She told me she is still at the sick bay waiting for me. Instantly, I walked to the office again and the 2 admin staff who attended to me were busy chit chatting and ignored me. I walked in to the sick bay and and called my girl and tatah ..she walked out. I reprimanded the 2 staff for being oblivious to their surrounding and being aware when a sick student walked in. Another more senior staff heard and quickly walked over and ask if my girl was feeling better.. I was disappointed and told the form teacher there after. This is the standard of vigilance , if any that we get and being girls, I also get more worried about there whereabouts and safety. Guess every school has there own way of managing but through the pass 2 years in this school and after hearing different stories from other mummies.. the best way is to train your girl to be more alert and careful on her own.

Haha...so i am not the only one that got such treatment from the admin staffs..Yes, they love to talk and see us parent transparent. I was polite enough for them to finish the conversation, but they do not have any sense that someone is there waiting to ask some questions.

Bus issue is an definite thing that must be brought up to School Management. They cant pay my daughter back, if anything happen to her. I seriously did not think the situation is so bad until i read all the comments.

She didn't elaborate further on the student care. Only gave the above info. I think probably later half of year then they will tell us how they will pick the 50 students.

The forms she said to be given around July this year. So I don't know how the 2017 transfer students be allocated for it

guessing only ... maybe give priority to P5/P6 students (prepare Psle), to enter Student care

Hmmm, i was thinking the fundemental purpose of having a student care is to care take students after school, mostly meant for working parents without helpers.
Myself and wife, we do not believe and do not have any helpers. Parents do not want to care take our kids, and student care is our only hope.
P5 / P6 should be able to care take themselves compared to P1 to P3.
If for the purpose of preparing PSLE, then might as well set up remedial lessons for it.
my point of view.

Went for P1 Orientation.

Seems like there are a large number of non local born Singaporean's kids in P1. Shall not comment on their behavior.
I did overheard their discussion during the assembly that, they took the sacrifice of giving up their citizenship and applied SG citzenship for their kids, in order to gain entry into school, BUT, once they completed their education in Singapore, they will pull out and go away.
Personally, I really dont agree of what their doing. Their entry had denied opportunity of what local born Singaporean can have.

Overall, girl was excited until she met her Form Teacher, whom expressed no smile and look fierce.
For me, I am ok, as long the teacher can perform and teach the kids well.

School wise, seems like there are still construction to be cleared, and places to be washed, to get ready for next week school term.

I also heard rumors that school is going to start a Student Care centre. Is this true?
Any priorities set for application?
Please pity those working parents without domestic helpers or parents or in laws in helping to take care of the kids after school.

Traffic along Hillcrest. Sigh, I live just along Hillcrest, and yes, traffic will be congested. So, I really urge parents that are able to spare their cars, to try out MRT to TKK station, else it is really a big challenge for school to receive 1720students from 6am onwards till 0720am; and rest assured there will be weird parents that will delay the entire drop off process.

Hi mummies, can I ask what is consider good, average and bad score for P1?

My daughter scored 94% which I am happy but during meet the teachers session, the feedback are either average or bad. Hence I am curious about the marks that a P1 student should have.

for P1/P2 -

If a student get 26x, 27x :
considered ... average

If a student get Low end of 28x (eg : 281 or 282) :
is considered ... Within average

But, if student get High end of 28x (eg : 289) or 29x :
is considered ... Above average

To be within Top 3, in class :
Total aggregate need to be around, at least 296 or 297/300

There is no bad score
If below average, next year child will attend P2 learning support program (English or Maths), or asked to attend Bridging programme P2 Chinese
(if weak in Chinese)

(Mid / Upper primary score : P3 to P6, is upon 400, because 4 subjects including Science)

Like that I jialiat liao lor.
As I do not seems to remember scoring that high during my primary schools day.
PSLE scored 180marks; GCE O level Scored all Bs; Poly scored all As and Bs; till University, then my grades improved to 24As with 1st Class Honors; then to Masters.

So, question is: If my girl, P1 in 2016, scored less than 260marks and below, will she be kick out of the school??
Seriously I want her to enjoy her childhood, not just focusing on results and results only.
May really regret if a wrong choice is made to put her in RGPS.

Sigh :frustrated:

51 + 13 + 43 = 117???

I believed the above numbers only reflects the total SC from each categories, but MOE reflected total number of applicants, including PR.
I was there in school till 4.30pm to witness the entire updates…

Anyway, good luck to all Singapore Citizen (>2km) on the ballot. PR–>OUT
Hi all, we intend to send our son to ACS, just how the church membership works for phase 2b? Husband and I are both Christians for many years, but got no clue about the membership. Could any one kind tell me what I need to do to become a member of the church?

Many thanks

Parents must transfer church membership to a Methodist Church (assuming parents are already baptized) , kids are baptized too

If you are not baptized, you can attend a Methodist church and choose your baptism in the church - which u will be a member after baptism

All transfer of church membership and baptism are required to attend class in the church

You should check with the church for the dates as membership classes are not available all year round, but only on certain dates. Usually in a span of 1 month.
Join the church, for the purpose of believing in the faith of the religion, not because of sending your kids to the school. What happen after the kid enter into the school, will you still be attending the services or participate in the church?
For what I know, they are screening through for applicants who wish to be part of the member in the church. There are criterias that needs to be fulfill, before you can even sign up as member, taking membership class.

I pray that you do not join the church, just for the sake of your children, but truly because of you, like the environment, cultures, services that the church is having.
Are you a Methodist? Find out more first. You need to be batipised into the Methodist community first.

I repeated, do not commit an action with motives. God knows exactly what we are thinking.

I lives in Shelford Area, having a girl born in 2009. I am a Methodist Church Member as well.

I know that chances of my girl entering MGS is very slim even we have the Church letter.

For Phase 2C, I understand that even if there are more applicants than available seats, priority is still given to Singaporean + living within 1km first, then following by >1km and beyond.
Am I right?

So, I am really confused which school should I put my girl to.
Personally I prefer MGS as of Methodist teaching.

since you'll be receiving your Methodist church letter soon, from your Pastor :-
proceed to ballot for MGS primary (Phase 2B), within 1 km.
All the very best, hope your daughter get into MGS !

if not, on the last day of Phase 2C:-
if Rgps does not require you to ballot for that particular distance range that you are in, then enrol your girl into this school safely, secure a seat first, instead of risk / face intense balloting competition at MGS less than 1 km, under Phase 2C. Particularly now with the 30 months rule imposed.

Before u even sign the contract, find out what are the Terms & Condition stated in black & white.
In the event if fail in balloting (which i hope not, but still plan for all kind of possible balloting outcome scenario) : how much do u need to pay landlord penalty charges, if wish to quit the 2 years' contract ? Do u have to pay the balance of remaining months, unfulfilled rental ?

After enter Rgps : appeal to MGS Principal seek Transfer (your daughter's name appearing on MGS Waitlist), using the Methodist church letter to appeal, plus whatever strong, compelling, supporting reasons you wish to give, to MGS Principal. As MGS is a Methodist mission school, tend to give priority to church members, even in appeal.

This was what happened to my daughter's classmate.
On Rgps P1 Orientation day : her classmate showed up, partner her.
One week later after P1 Term 1 started, this classmate of hers left Rgps because she had successfully secured a transfer over, to MGS primary. End up my daughter's class only have 29 students, instead of 30 students, expected per P1 class.
not say that every MGS Transfer case happen, like this little girl.
but is possible

if can, try to avoid balloting in Phase 2C, because balloting can run either direction, all depending on that day's luck. In the event if fail 2C balloting at MGS, then only school in Phase 2C Supp that has vacancies, is Bukit Timah primary.

if do not mind Bukit Timah primary, may ballot at 2C (MGS) to try your luck, instead of Rgps. The choice is yours, at the end of the day.

Above apply : if your dd is a Sg citizen.

If child is a PR
- MGS :
both (Phases 2B + 2C) : zero chance, since balloting occurred in both Phases, less than 1 km for SC.
only Bukit Timah primary have vacancies, to accept PR child.

- Rgps :
PR children may still got chance, if enter via GrassRoot Activity Community centre route (Phase 2B)

but at Phase 2C : PR zero chance, because Sg children will be balloting.
last year (2014) : SC outside 2 km, balloted
but in 2012 : SC within 1 km, balloted. One girl got balloted out

refer past years' statistics
http://www.rafflesgirlspri.moe.edu.sg/e ... statistics

Thanks for the detailed answer.
I am a local born singaporean father, my daughter is singaporean, my wife is PR. Do we still have the priority still?
